The excellent value Dell Dimension E520 system is built around the Intel Pentium D processors, they may be a bit old to date but even so, they offer the new Intel ViiV technology to provide you with an excellent media experience! Despite the lack of AMD processors, Dell have come out shining with the E520 - with at least 1GB of PC2-4200 DDR2 memory, you will be more than happy as you can easily run simultaneous, demanding applications at the same time. The dual core Intel Pentium D provides you with bags of processing power which will be very handy will today's demanding and power hungry games!
Test's with Nero 7 Premium gave excellent results. We captured a 120 minute movie with ease and then burnt it to DVD in less than 30 minutes including encoding in super high quality! As well as this, we tested some of the most popular games such as Half Life 2 , Age of Empires 3, GTR2, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and Rome : Total War. We played them all with ease via the NVidia GeForce 7300LE graphics card.
Included with the package was a 250GB SataII hard drive, plenty space for whatever you need to do. Whether it be to play games, backup pictures or share your favorite videos - your bound to have enough space!
Included with your purchase of an E520, you will recieve a free upgrade to Windows Vista! I myself ordered Windows Media Centre and have been amazed at how nice and stylish it appears. The OS compliments the E520, not only via its computing power but it's graphics - the beautiful supplied 19" TFT monitor shows excellent clarity and a superb picture thanks to its 500:1 contrast ratio and 1280x1024 resolution! Unfortunately the monitor does not support HDMI (the graphics card does) but if you go for the more expensive 19" monitor, im sure it will come with it (not that it will make much difference, D-Sub is fantastic on itself!)
My ONLY downside to the system is that the provided keyboard and mouse is absolutely rubbish! The mouse is glitchy and the keyboard is tiny. I soon replaced them both with a Logitech Desktop and I recommend you to do so too!
All in all the computer is fantastic - I can't really fault it at all! If you are looking for a great value, great performance and beautifully looking system - it's for you!! You may not be able to pick up the same package that I have (special Christmas offer), but I assure you that Dell will provide you with the best offers out there!
Specifications:
Intel Pentium D ViiV Processor 3.4GHz 250GB Sata II Hard Drive 1GB PC2-4200 Memory DVD-RW x16 /RAM 19" Beautiful Monitor
... costs, £600.
P.S, all the claims that Dell are rubbish are false. Dell have got their act together within the past few years, they now offer unbeatable prices as well as fantastic support and no hidden charges. Don't go to your amateur PC shop; PC World, Dixons, Comet, Curry's - they will provide you wil expensive, bad value for money machines that have poor performance and even worse support!
Thanks for reading!
