Advantages: Great build, value and support Disadvantages: Obsolesence as with all PCs
...this my first PC from DELL online in April 1998. The Dell Dimension XPS R400 had just been released and this was first purchase online at around £2000. I was able to order slight changes to the base specification without being penalised for having a bespoke PC system rather than a mass prepared one. The order fullfilment was easliy tracked online. I could tell at what stage the PC delivery was, Construction, Testing, Awaiting Dispatch and finally ... ...minimum of fuss. Dell have a great deal of information about each system on their web-based support pages and you can download latest patches and drivers say for instance if you have upgraded the operating system to Windows 98 as I have. The Dell PC experience continues to be a positive one and I still have onsite support until April 2001. I have bought a Dell PC for my parents (70 & 74 years) and a friend has purchased a Dell PC on my recommendation ...

Advantages: Value, Quality, Service, Specification, Brand! Disadvantages: Silver case not quite as chic as I had hoped
...other companies my experience with Dell has been thoroughly satisfying. I have had my computer 6 months now enough to know that it is not going to fall to pieces 6 weeks after purchase etc like many others. From the picture I had seen of the XPS I had hoped that the whole of the front of the machine was in Brushed Metal but unfortunately only the metal shield in the centre is despite this minor disappointment the computer has been a huge success ...

Advantages: Easy to use/ easy to buy/ looks wonderful Disadvantages: Its big!/ costly to buy
This was our first ever bought pc. Mainly purchased for on line gaming and boy has it lived up to its name...wow!
When it arrived we took it out of the box and stood in amazment as it looked like something from a science fiction film, a space machine, with its blue front and silver panel that has a blue light shining from behind it looks awesome!
It is so easy to set up even if you dont know much, all software/ or most of it, that you purchase ...

Advantages: Good machine, reliable, Disadvantages: After sales tech support
...and well built. At first Dell had a full operation in Geneva, however that has changed.
I live in Geneva, Switzerland, and when I call the local tech support phone number its diverted to Casablanca if I select 'French' and Ireland , I think, when I select 'English'.
In either case they are unable to help and regularly suggest to reformat the HD. Easy to say. I end up calling a computer expert in Geneva who comes over and solved the issue.
I have ...

I recently had a motherboard failure on my existing Dell Inspiron laptop and given its age, repair looked a bad move as one could buy a new laptop for less. However, once I decided to see what was available and given my two main criteria - a higher than... more
In the past i've never gone for a high end laptop but the £700 I spent was well worth the money. I had reservations about buying from Dell because I have personal experience of bad build quality from one of their earlier portable laptops, the C400. But I more
Yes. This is a very expensive machine but it is well worth it. I bought it equipped with two 8700GT NVIDIA cards and it was well worth it. IT is able to play all of the games out at the moment with ease. But only when plugged into the wall which, is no... more

As a gamer, I needed the best processor out there. Searching around, the only real debate in this price range was whether to go for the E6850, a dual core CPU, or the Q6600, a quad core at a lower clock. After looking at many different benchmarks and... more
