Having bought a Dimension 800/4100 for home last month I have been very pleased with both the machine and dealing with Dell. I was a little worried when the PC arrived in 3 large boxes, but actually it’s a very reasonable size. The 17” monitor is big in terms of depth, but is worth ... Read review

Advantages: good machine all round especially sound and graphics Disadvantages: organising delivery
...PC was the DVD player. Dell included a DVD of movie trailers to test the DVD player and it didn’t run. However in one phone call to the help line they understood the problem and managed to fix it by talking me through installing the missing software, which was a very simple operation. The only catch being it is an 0870 phone number. The Dell web site wasn’t quite as user friendly for tracking the order of the PC before it arrived, as ... ...by the time Dell had replied to my email regarding this, the delivery company had already been in touch with me direct. As the PC is mostly used for internet access and playing games I haven’t really used the software that was included and I chose to stay with FreeUK as my ISP rather than Dell’s Dellnet, but I would certainly recommend it as a home PC system for anyone who wants/needs high quality sound and graphics. ...

Advantages: Excellent Value Disadvantages: n/a
...The reason I first chose Dell was their prices were quite a bit cheaper than other leading manufactureres, their machines were highly recommended in reviews, and I could customise the system I wanted down to every last detail. Contacting them was particularly easy, their staff are well trained and knowledgable, which makes a nice change in this business. It's nice to be able to get help off someone who actually knows more than you do! My current ... ...just the ones that made Dell more profit, they actually wanted me to have the system I wanted. Finally, and most importantly, the customer support they provide is second to none. They have always been able to help on the rare occasion I stumbled into a problem with one of mine or my families systems (5 computers over 8 years, and only 3 calls to tech support needed) They can be contacted by a NON-premium rate number, which is nice, and giving them ...

Advantages: Great systems, great support, great prices! Disadvantages: They aren't a local 'down the road' company, so you don't get face to face treatment

Advantages: SUPPORT, SUPPORT, SUPPORT Disadvantages: Microsoft software (As always)
...order can be tracked.
Dell allow you to add the features that you need most, whether it is display for gaming, connectivity or business use.
The most important thing with buying a PC is SUPPORT when (if) something goes wrong.
Most machines running Microsoft operating systems will have problems. I am an experienced user of PCs and I have my fair share of problems.
I have even had to re-format and "start again" but with Dell after sales support, ... ...you ever need them.
Dell computers are quality products with propritary parts. For example, my model had a disply adapter from nVIDIA, sound card from Soundblaster. In other words, the components are not nameless re-badged and cheaper copies of inferior origin.
Best PC buying advice is: BUY THE BEST YOU CAN AFFORD AT THE TIME, THINKING ABOUT YOUR REQUIREMENTS TWO YEARS HENCE! ...

I recently had a motherboard failure on my existing Dell Inspiron laptop and given its age, repair looked a bad move as one could buy a new laptop for less. However, once I decided to see what was available and given my two main criteria - a higher than... more
In the past i've never gone for a high end laptop but the £700 I spent was well worth the money. I had reservations about buying from Dell because I have personal experience of bad build quality from one of their earlier portable laptops, the C400. But I more
Yes. This is a very expensive machine but it is well worth it. I bought it equipped with two 8700GT NVIDIA cards and it was well worth it. IT is able to play all of the games out at the moment with ease. But only when plugged into the wall which, is no... more
