Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.
...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space.
I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget.
The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I would have preferred metal for the mousepad area - it feels sturdier and doesn't seem to attract...

Advantages: Looks and feels good, easy to work and carry about Disadvantages: battery broken within a year
...This laptop is really good. however I have owned mine for just under a year now and the battery has broken so I need to get it fixed which is very annoying. Apart from the battery breaking I think that the laptop is great and I would buy a Dell laptop again. I use my laptop everyday but i would have expected the batttery to last longer, especially seeing as it is dell. Now I have the hassel of getting the battery fixed. I would still reccomend this dell laptop to other people as it is good value for money and looks nice etc and apart from the battery the laptop is easy to use and I haven't had any other problems with it. Dell is usually a reliable service and hopefully it wont be too bad having to get the battery fix, if not then I can buy a new battery....

Advantages: COMPACT , LIGHT, SLEEK LOOKING Disadvantages: OVER SENSITIVE CONTROL PAD
...This was our second laptop. Our first was an IBM thinkpad which was a good solid performer.
The dell is an excellent replacement for old IBM.
The performance is all i will ever need .
It has ample disk space and memory and ,when linked up to our 8mb broadband, it is plenty fast!!!
The only downside that i have found when using it is that the control surface can be very very sensitive and sometimes results in you accidentally highlighting the whole page , when you are only trying to navigate your cursor.
Overall though it is a very smart package and in my opinion is nice and compact and very sleek to look at .
The "shiny" surface of the computer makes it look very modern although can be a pain to keep clean , especially if it is black like mine is.
All in all i would thoroughly recommend this laptop....
