    Advantages Advantages It works.

Disadvantages Disadvantages very old, bulky, heavy, slow.

Design The dell inspiron 1300 is a 15.4 inch notebook, from research this looks like it came out in 2005 however this was given to my sister a few years ago and now my notebook is being repaired I am forced to use this as a back up. The inspiron is made of a sturdy thick plastic unlike other laptops that are made with aluminium and plastic. The lid is very thick measuring almost an inch thick which compared to today's standards this is extremely unnecessary and hideous. The base of the laptop measures just over an inch thick so as you can imagine this is not very light weight. The screen ... more

The Dell Inspiron 1300 is a “notepad” laptop which I’ve been using for just short of a year now, and it’s still working just fine. For ease of use I’ve taken to using it instead of a computer, since I really enjoy the portability, so it probably takes upwards of 20 hours of use a week. And yes, for 6/8p per rating (I can’t work out which it is this month) I will indeed write a review on it for Ciao. ;> Unfortunately this review is bound to be full of computer jargon. I’ll try to go slow, and explain myself as I go along for those of you who don’t know that much about it, but to review a laptop ... more

**NB: The Dell Inspiron 1300 is no longer available to buy from the Dell website** If you've recently seen a Dell advert for a laptop at a ludicrously low price, and let's face it - who hasn't - the chances are it's the Inspiron 1300 that's being plugged. Here I intend to concentrate solely on the hardware and general usability of this model. I do not intend to review Dell the company beyond saying that delivery for the laptop was outstanding (Ordered at 7.00pm on the Wednesday night, delivered at 11.00am on the Friday morning of the same week). Packaging was perfectly adequate and everything ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap. Fairly quick. Reliable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dell's rubbish software suite. No PCMCIA port. Battery life. Heavy.

The Dell Inspiron 1300 is a laptop that is no longer available from Dell, however picking one up from a place such as eBay may still grab you a nice bargain. There are two screen choices and the one I have is the larger 15.4" screen. A 14" is available and I believe the laptop for that one is slightly narrower. It is bright, adjustable brightness, and is very clear. Keyboard-wise, it is well designed. It took a bit of getting used to having the page up and page down buttons on the top right, but most people will simply use the mouse pad. This is one failing in this laptop. The mousepad is ... more

Advantages Advantages Very Cheap for Spec, Nice Widescreen, Wireless Enabled

Disadvantages Disadvantages Somewhat Basic, Bit Bulky, Quality?

So I decided that I needed to get myself a Laptop, I already have a fairly high powered Desktop that I use for Gaming, so this Laptop would be basic, after all I'd mainly be using it for University work, such as Productivity and small Program Compiling. I was looking at Dell's for a while, because they seemed to be the cheapest I could get while at the same time maintaining some degree of reliability. I finally got round to purchasing the Laptop when I saw an advert in the paper, offering double RAM, Hard Drive and £30 off the normal price. First things first, I ordered the Laptop on a Sunday ... more
