The first good thing about this laptop is that it’s a dell. Dell are a huge computing company, and are the biggest name around. The only bad thing about them is that you can usually only buy online. This is easy and your laptop should be delivered to your door within a week, however its not so good if you cant see a laptop before you buy it, so this is one thing that puts me of buying a laptop online. With dell, you do get great customer service, they promise to fix your laptop if it breaks and give you a new one if they cant fix it.
This is an inspiron, and so follows the designs of all inspirons before, and probably after it. This laptop has a very stylish silver outer shell, with a silver and white rimmed top, and a black base to it. The keyboard is also in black, and its this combination of colour that steps this laptop up from looking dull and boring to looking like a stylish machine anyone would want to own. The screen is clearly sturdy and doesn’t wobble if you shake the laptop about, its also easy to open and close and doesn’t make horrible creaking sounds like some screens on other laptops do.
This laptop does run very fast, this is due to its combination of its very high spec 2 gb of ram and its AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology processor. This runs at speeds of 1.8 Ghz which is very fast, especially when running 2 gb of ram as well so they’ll be no problem in running those demanding programs, games or anything else really.
The hard drive is also of high spec too, its got a built in 160 GB - Serial ATA-150 hard drive which can process data at speeds of 5400 rpm, which is very quick, these high speeds make all the difference when doing things like, deleting copying and even saving and loading documents on your laptop.
The screen size is an acceptable 15.4 inches. This is a great quality TFT screen which also has active matrix. This is something that’s now being used by almost all laptop and notebook manufacturers today. It basically makes the screen brighter, sharper and altogether better quality which makes all the difference to what ever your doing on your laptop, it also makes the screen lighter which is cutting weigh off the laptops total weight.
The battery life for this laptop is good too, it will last around 3.5 hours which is probably the most you’ll need it if your taking it anywhere anyway, and unless you actually buy a laptop designed for portability then this is one of the best battery life’s you can get.
Its weight is pretty average, its 2.8 kg. this shows its not the best to be used as a portable laptop, but it isn’t too heavy and if you need to take it the odd place then it’ll be fine. However if your carting this round all day everyday then you might think about getting something a little lighter.
This also has a 3 in 1 card reader, this is just a built in extra which is sometimes handy if you have a digital camera and need to store your photos easily and more conveniently.
Altogether this is a great looking laptop with a very good specification, its also a dell so you wont be ashamed to get this out at your workplace or in front of anyone to do work on, and you know you’ve got great customer support too.

The one thing I would tell a potential buyer would be to buy the laptop outright - under no circumstances should you take ... ...of the features through the Dell website regardless of what you are going to use it for. Dell is one of the greatest companies when it comes to pc and laptops, and in my opinion they are the best company of all. With dell you know your getting great customer support if any thing should go wrong with your laptop, they help you set it up if you need to and there even on call to come out to your house if you do have further problems.
However you can only buy dell laptops online, this means you have to wait a week before you get the laptop, ... ...there right now.
This dell 1501, is an inspiron. Inspirons are of a really good design and made to a great standard, there has now been so much different models of inspiron made, so it must be a good laptop.
This particular inspiron is great for anyone who needs an good running laptop, with lots of memory and just something to last them through college, university or just someone who wants a good laptop.

I am no expert with computers, have no background in knowledge of the workings of 'processors' or 'gigahertz' and use my computer simply for surfing the internet, writing essays and playing computer games. Therefore, this is not going to be a 'techies' guide, just one from a normal person wanting to help normal people!
The computer has Windows Vista on it, and although this is irrelevant to the review of the computer itself, it does seem to be a ... ...in many ways, but a lot slicker and more stylish also. So, back to the Dell. The keyboard is well laid out, the keys normal size and the mouse is easy to use. The mouse pad has little lines down the right hand side and the bottom which can be used as scroll wheels. This is a good feature and particularly good when scrolling down web pages.
There are four USB ports, a CD drive and other spaces for external monitors, mouses (mice?) and head/microphones.

This laptop is very fast and powerful for what you pay, the intel 2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor drives this laptop so fast. go for a large memory option when buying, svaes a lot of money in the future
Sound can distort at higher levels, grapics are bright and colours are bright.
Unlike earlier inspiron model the webcam is a good addition, Wifi seems to get a slightly better reception, not sure why WIFI card is the same in Both. Glossy 15.4 screen looks amazing,
Dell have learned from the Inspiron1501, go for a longer life battery still quite short with WIFI on.
My best bit advice is pay for a mid range model, your get about the same spec off sony for about £800 more...

...this dell laptop is very good for first time computer users. it offers all of the main features you would expect to see in a laptop and also comes with some optional extras such as windows vista home premiam an upgrade of vista home basic. the laptops processor is well known and could easyily run most games and almost ever aplication on the market for example microsoft office. with dell laptops such as this it is also possible to get a built in webcam in a wide range of colour if it is desired. the laptop however is not the fastest laptop on the market at the moment and is not as good as the dellinspiron1501 another model of laptop from dell....

...As far as basic keyboards go, the Saitek Compact USB keyboard is basically OK. I was particularly looking for a simple keyboard with a USB connection which I could plug into my new DellInspiron1501 Laptop and this fits the bill perfectly. It even has the same colour scheme - black keys and silver casing.
Installation is simple - plug in and go. It doesn't need any software, the Add New Hardware Wizard in Windows installs it automatically.
It has adjustable feet so you can alter the angle and is very lightweight
It doesn't have anything but the usual basic keyboard functions but at a cost of £8.99 from Argos (used my Nectar rewards again!), I'm not complaining. It also comes with a 2 year guarantee.
