In a word - FANTASTIC - a brilliant powerful portable computer, I recently upgraded by old laptop, which looks like a relic of the 1960's. The Dell Inpspiron 1501 has everything that matters for the average user. Fantastic looks and also has the muscle to back it up, it performs very well in all aspects of computing ranging from standard word processing tasks to computer games.
My Dell laptop cost £550 and was well worth the price that I paid for it. The one thing I would tell a potential buyer would be to buy the laptop outright - under no circumstances should you take the finance option with any seller. This is extremely important as they charge a ridiculous interest rate to the buyer. So if you take anything from this article take this - under NO CIRCUMSTANCE TAKE
SELLER FINANCE.
Anyway this article is about the product so with that in mind lets get down to some juicy specs - the standard model comes with a hard drive of 80 gigabytes (GB) - alot! depending on your computing needs. For instance if you are using the computer for hard core gaming - this isn't the laptop for you. Anything else would be fine altought you may want to tailor some of the features through the Dell website regardless of what you are going to use it for. Although when you tailor the computer this can cost extra - depending on what features you tailor.
The computer is brilliant, very fast and can deal with any task that the average user would put to it. My computer can pre loaded with Windows Vista Home Edition - this is the standard package that comes with Dell computers. Usually you can also get a software bundle thrown into the deal as well so be on the look out for it or other deals that may be offered.
The processor is fast and can effortlessly run most programs you could think of. The sound and graphics as well are stunning, although like I said if you are into hardcore gaming you might want to upgrade the graphics card when you are designing the computer.
I have had this computer for around 6 months now and have had no problems with the computer at all. Again Dell are excellent as if you have any problems with the hardward you can easily return it and they will replace it (within a designatied period).
Installing external hardward (ie digitial camera, mouse etc) and installing software could not be easier. Windows Vista takes care of it and is very easy to use.
The touch pad is very response and works well when on the move. It clearly can't replace a standard mouse but does work well.
The screen - again depending on the type you decide on during the 'build' the screen on my computer produces a crisp sharp and when watching DVD's the picture is simply stunning for a laptop. The sound is also stunning, although if you are using it to watch DVD's you may want to think about buying a set of decent speakers to give a more rewarding movie experience.
The laptop also comes with all of the usual features that you would expect from Dell such as DVD re-writable device, various USB ports, ports for modems, wireless internet card - extremely useful feature if you travel, as you can connect to wireless locations in airports, hotels etc, so if you are a busy executive I would recommend this feature for your computer. Wireless cards are a vast subject in itself and is outwith the remit of this article.
To sum up, I have had no problems with the laptop and I use my computer all the time with the type of job I do. I am always on the move and require up to date information for the World Wide Web. This computer will allow me the flexability to achieve any kind of task I want. It will even allow me to watch a DVD, in comfort and the quality of the sound or picture remains unaffected. All in all an excellent buy for the money and I would recommend purchasing this type of laptop through the Dell website. Dell will also give you cash back if you go through the Quidco website. The one thing that you shouldn't do is take the finance option as they will charge you a ludicious amount of interest of the computer.
I hope you enjoyed this article and I hope it was of some benefit to you.
