The first good thing about this laptop is that it’s a dell. Dell are a huge computing company, and are the biggest name around. The only bad thing about them is that you can usually only buy online. This is easy and your laptop should be delivered to your door within a week, however its not so good if you cant see a laptop before you buy it, so this is one thing that puts me of buying a laptop online. With dell, you do get great customer service, they promise to fix your laptop if it breaks and give you a new one if they cant fix it.
This is an inspiron, and so follows the designs of all inspirons before, and probably after it. This laptop has a very stylish silver outer shell, with a silver and white rimmed top, and a black base to it. The keyboard is also in black, and its this combination of colour that steps this laptop up from looking dull and boring to looking like a stylish machine anyone would want to own. The screen is clearly sturdy and doesn’t wobble if you shake the laptop about, its also easy to open and close and doesn’t make horrible creaking sounds like some screens on other laptops do.
This laptop does run very fast, this is due to its combination of its very high spec 2 gb of ram and its AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile technology processor. This runs at speeds of 1.8 Ghz which is very fast, especially when running 2 gb of ram as well so they’ll be no problem in running those demanding programs, games or anything else really.
The hard drive is also of high spec too, its got a built in 160 GB - Serial ATA-150 hard drive which can process data at speeds of 5400 rpm, which is very quick, these high speeds make all the difference when doing things like, deleting copying and even saving and loading documents on your laptop.
The screen size is an acceptable 15.4 inches. This is a great quality TFT screen which also has active matrix. This is something that’s now being used by almost all laptop and notebook manufacturers today. It basically makes the screen brighter, sharper and altogether better quality which makes all the difference to what ever your doing on your laptop, it also makes the screen lighter which is cutting weigh off the laptops total weight.
The battery life for this laptop is good too, it will last around 3.5 hours which is probably the most you’ll need it if your taking it anywhere anyway, and unless you actually buy a laptop designed for portability then this is one of the best battery life’s you can get.
Its weight is pretty average, its 2.8 kg. this shows its not the best to be used as a portable laptop, but it isn’t too heavy and if you need to take it the odd place then it’ll be fine. However if your carting this round all day everyday then you might think about getting something a little lighter.
This also has a 3 in 1 card reader, this is just a built in extra which is sometimes handy if you have a digital camera and need to store your photos easily and more conveniently.
Altogether this is a great looking laptop with a very good specification, its also a dell so you wont be ashamed to get this out at your workplace or in front of anyone to do work on, and you know you’ve got great customer support too.
