The Inspiron 1501 is fast, looks good and has a nice wide screen, BUT I regret buying it. Why? Because
It is NOISY ... VERY NOISY. The fan runs continually and sometimes even kicks into a higher gear, sounding like a running motor. It makes concentrating on what you're doing difficult sometimes.
It gets hot within 5 mins. In fact, it gets VERY hot after just 15 mins. I have to shut it off and let it cool down every 40 mins. or so. Should have known this would happen since it is metal and has the big screen!
It sometimes just quits, putting up a grey and blue striped screen. All you can do is turn it off and reboot. This has not only happened when it's hot either.
The regular type is too light, the bold type is too dark. There's no happy inbetween, just like the audio.
Some letters skip as you're typing, meaning yor wrds cn ed up lookg lke this . It only happns now and them, but enough to be a bothr as you have to go back and rtype the word!! It's not as if I hit the keys too lightly, either, since I am a one-finger typer.
Yes, I will phone Dell Support about these things because they are MAJOR weaknesses IMO. Maybe I have a lemon?
