I bought this laptop a couple of months ago for my little sister who's persuing Computer Engineering. Thus I need a laptop which is beginner friendly, price friendly and future protected. Dell's Inspiron 1525 is perfect in all things mentioned.

OK now personal experience. This is my first laptop (though I've used almost every brand in past, since I do desktop/laptop repairing work for pocket money.). The laptop looks good ( I bought ruby red color). Since its for my sister who is a newbie in computers this laptop is perfect as it can run every software she needs (that includes Turbo C compiler.. lol). Laptop is lightweight compared to Lenovo, Compaq and Shara laptops of same price range. Since its a entry level laptop, you can't expect much in performance department, and I don't want to go into much tech frills.. . I had to buy a Microsoft Compact USB Mouse (560/- indian rupees) and Headphones (400 rupees) extra as using laptop's touchpad isn't very comfortable (and you can't do gaming using touchpad )

Right now I have Windows Xp, Windows Vista Ultimate ( with Aero ON) and Edubuntu (a fork of Ubuntu) installed on it. It takes approx ~1 minute too boot in any of these.

I tried installing OSX (hackintosh) on it, but Installation failed.

I played Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed - Pro Street, Crysis and Colin McRae Rally diRt with high quality settings on it without any problems. Even Assassin's Creed ran fine with low settings.

The laptop is worth the price.
