This Laptop is an very solid machine. I say this because usually when I pick a laptop up first thing I notice is the need for power and a time delay to load the windows, its like you have to handle the laptop carefully just in fear of delaying the start up. This has been my experience of earlier laptops from Dell. This one was a big step up, I put the machine in front of me on a cushion for the first time and with a tap of the on switch windows was up and running, at this point I said wow. The build quality is A1 a great silver colour and very sleek buttons in a very sleek case that clicks open and shut. The screen is sharp, bright colours crisp and very appealing. I have a Samsung LCD monitor on my main PC this monitor is just as good but in a tidy package. The machine was very easy to handle all the buttons in very accessible and user friendly positions. I've used this laptop for a few weeks and now really like opening the lid for comfortable computing. The speakers are very good and sound very effective I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed by limited sound quality and using something like UTUBE the sound is more than impressive so for smaller tasks/radio its very good perfectly ample I think if you want better you must be wanting cinema/surround etc but the laptop covers all basic sound needs. The graphics are excellent too with the GeForce Go 7900GS 256MB. The graphics usually fall short slowing when it gets caught up, but I was really impressed by the response when playing a UTUBE video, not only was the sound very impressive but the video that went with it was very effective keeping up to speed and playing real time video from UTUBE. The Laptop plays games effectively with no delay, I tried a 3d shooter and it performed very well but I wouldn't use it for this purpose, I don't think many people at all would use a laptop to play games but if necessary it is a capable machine with a very good processor as well as graphics engine, I'm not going to read off speed ratings of CPUs and graphics because then the review might become too statistical and people loose interest and I dont believe that laptops are designed to be pushed to the limit but in this case as I say it a very capable machine. Good battery life
The Laptop has WIFI my god I love this when you just sit and it connects to the same hub as your main PC-things just become more and more convenient. It has Good coverage and 6 USB ports more than my main pc which has a USB extending devise attached to extend it to 7 usb ports only one ahead of the Laptop. Either I will have to upgrade my PC or maybe replace it with another one of these.
The weight of the Laptop is about 4kg and then theres all your extras to go with it and your bag but Id rather have a meaty machine with a bit of substance and backbone than a wafer thin word processor that slows down as soon as you look at it.
The dell inspiron looks great, performs great and best of all it's a dell.
Dell are no doubt the best when it comes to laptops and computers, the only bad thing I can think of about dell, is that you can only buy online. This can be a bit frustrating because when you want to get a laptop you want to see it before and try it before you buy. Also you don't want to wait a week or longer before it arrives so you can go on it.
However it being a dell, ... ...it looks like any other dell inspiron, but a lot of design work went into these and it really shows and you most defiantly wouldn't be embarrassed to get this out on the plane or at work to show everyone in sight.
This features a Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 / 1.8 Ghz processor, which runs the huge 2 gb of ram, really fast. Most laptops seem to have 1 gb of ram so to see this with 2 gbs, you just know it's a step up in class.
Also this 2gb of ram can ...

Advantages: Suitable for a variety of uses, gaming, DVDs, office work etc. Disadvantages: Haven't found any yet!
I bought this laptop a few months ago because firstly, I wanted a full-size keyboard (being a touch typist), secondly I wanted a decent graphics card for gaming (comes with nVidia card) and thirdly, my laptop never travels so I wanted a large screen.
A few months down the line and I am very happy with it! The gaming is absolutely great (and so is the touch-typing!). It is fantastic to have a large screen - in fact, it seems really weird if I revert ...

Advantages: Nice design, easy to use, not too expensive Disadvantages: Big big to carry around every day
...From my experience people like Dell because they produce value for money products to a high standard. Other people are put off because they are not a shop, but i know people who have had a couple of problems with dell and Dell have managed to sort out the problems no fuss. So i don't think this hsould put people off. The Laptop - This laptop has many great features. It's performance is fantastic and it does everything you need it to do. It's quick ... ...It is a stylish design and isn't too heavy. When buying this there is an optional screen resolution sizes to choose from. It comes with Windows Home Vista on it which is a great program too. It's easy to find your way around if your not already used to using Windows and if you are...then it's still nice and easy to find your way around! The screen size is a 17 inch widescreen which is a great size screen for you to see what your doing. The only bad ...

Advantages: Solidly built, Quiet, Good Manual, Responsive keyboard Disadvantages: Occasionally unreliable Mousepad, Media buttons location
...the PC. I wonder if Dell are aware of this issue, where an updated driver might resolve, or is it simply a design problem with the pad itself. Sometimes breathing onto my finger will help, so if you have sweaty fingers, you may not have so many problems!
A solidly built and attractive machine, albeit rather heavy. Not recommended for on the road use. But I only bought it as opposed to a desktop, so I can get away from the kids around the house, ... ...in particular for the 17" widescreen, but I don't think i would have really missed it as for surfing most websites are optimised for normal screens, however its great for watching DVD films and when opening and comparing 2 documents side by side.
Nice responsive keyboard.
Large PC has room for a number keyboard, great for simple calculations and accounting.
I was impressed with the User Manual, in particular on how to access internal componentry ...

Advantages: Reasonably Priced, Easy to Use, Large Screen Disadvantages: Heavy
...reasonably priced and I trusted Dell products from my personal and friends' previous use. The screen is fairly large which conributes towards the ease of use of this particlular model. I have had it just under a year and I have experienced no problems whatsoever, I regularly browse the internet and have uploaded many photos but neither have slowed it down. Admitably I am not the most technically advanced person but I have found it so easy to use. ...

Advantages: simple easy to use Disadvantages: movies and gaming
...Dell are the best of the best when it comes to computing, when you buy a dell, you know you will be satisfied with it, and although they are sometimes a bit more pricey than others of the same spec, but of different brands, they are well worth the extra money because of there high build quality.
However with dell you can only buy online, this is a bit annoying because you cant see what your getting up close before you buy it, however, a good thing is that you can see what you want, then change the specs, and personalise the laptop to suit your needs.
Deliveries from dell usually take about a week to come, with some coming before and some coming after. And dell have really good customer service too.
This dellinspiron1720 looks really good, it looks like any other dellinspiron, however there have been so much different products...

Advantages: case design that is stylish, fast processor Disadvantages: The 5920G does not have its own number pad to other desktop replacement
...Equipped with a fast processor and solid speakers, the $ 1999 (as of July 24, 2007) Acer Aspire 5920G is designed for work and entertainment. It bears Acer's tritone "gemstone" case design that is stylish, without overly ornate. The screen is prone to some glare and battery life is so-so, but the machine can be used with most types of applications.
Powered by a 2-GHz Core 2 Duo T7300 processor and configured with 2 GB of DDR2-667 SDRAM, the 5920G notched a very good World Bench 6 Beta 2-Score of 77 - a few percentage points above the mark by a DellInspiron1720, that the same processor and RAM. The Aspire average frame rate in our graphics tests was 83 frames per second - not close to the average of 100 fps posted by recent gaming notebooks, but capable of good game nonetheless.
The 5920G does not have its own number pad to...

I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is... more
