The screen is superb, 17.3 inches and a wide screen like quite a few laptops. It has a 1600x900 resolution which HD giving spectacular quality. The base model comes with vista home basic and a nice 160 GB hard drive. The battery life is quite good around 6 hours I can get out of mine not watching a hd video. It has a built in 1.3MP webcam with microphone along with the base which is good quality. Includes 3 usb ports and also comes with ATI Mobility Radeon graphics. There are many cool and sleek colours you can choose from along with all of the extra add ones. Mine has built in wireless which is ok when you are on the move for long journeys and need internet from wifi hot spots. With an Intel dual core processor it shouldn't start to bog down any time soon. I ended up paying in the region of £900 for mine because I chose a lot more add ons and now mine is lightning fast but even the base model is very quick from what I have seen from friends. The keyboard is really good, it isnt just a flat one on a few other laptops but isnt as bricky as desktop keyboards and the touch pad for using without a mouse works nicely and is positioned quite well. There is a really good deal with dell where you can get it covered for an extra £139 which covers you for 4 years. For the laptop which I use which is the same as this but with extras it takes around 1-3 hours to charge and portability is good but since it is big it doesn't help but you cant have a small laptop with a 17inch screen! All in all it is a great laptop from personal use to high end gaming. It will last a long time no matter what you use it for, mine has been running for a good while now and is still as good as it was when I first bought it! The instruction manual would be helpful if you were a beginner with computers and it was your first one.

I have had this laptop for a while now. My version cost £1280 and had the following spec:

As standard MS Works is installed however an optional extra MS Office can be installed. Dell also offers lots of other optional extras such as different coloured case covers and extra batteries.
At the time of buying this laptop was the best around as far as these specifications. It outperformed the top end Sony which retailed for £1800. This laptop would suit someone who wants a computer for all situations. It is more than powerful enough for general work, and the 17Inch monitor is perfect for watching DVDs and downloaded movies. The baterry life can be extended to around 3 hours which is more than adequate for short trips to the library ...

The Dell Studio 17 is a 17" Dell laptop which can be considered a desktop replacement laptop. It's market price is around $1000.
Design and Build:
In dell's overall range Dell studio 17 fits somewhere between XPS gaming notebooks and Inspirons with a more professional look. This Dell Studio 17 is very similar to Dell's studio 15 but has some extra features. Its body has a colorful metallic design touches which really looks amazing. I think many users of this notebook would appreciate the number pad, fingerprint reader and the keyboard backlight which looks beautiful in absence of light. Its height is 1.2" - 1.7" which can be considered thick and the weight is 3.6 Kg which is also quite heavy for this notebook. therefore It cannot be considered as a portable laptop.

runs the huge 2 gb of ram, really fast. Most laptops seem to have 1 gb of ram so to see this with 2 gbs, you just know it's a step up in class.
Also this 2gb of ram can even be upgraded to a maximum of 4gbs, this can be easily bought through the dell website, however this is quite dear to do, so if you do need more than 2gb of ram, which most of you wont, then look for a laptop with more ram already built in.
This laptop also has a big 160 gb of hard drive, this is about the most ill ever need in my life, and I could try filling this with everything iv ever done in my life and it probably still wouldn't fill it all.
Forget the 5 in 1 card reader, this has an 8 in 1 card reader, iv never actually seen an 8 in 1 card reader on a laptop before so this is fantastic.
