Advantages looks good, is portable, good value for money

Disadvantages unfortunately mine is pretty slow

After my old laptop broke I had to decide on a new one to buy....I wanted something small and light that I could easily take to uni with me, so a netbook seemed a pretty obvious choice. I have only ever used Dell so it seemed an obvious choice to go for, plus I was on a budget and have always found Dell to be reasonably priced.

I purchased the Dell mini 10 in September 2010 and it was priced at £249.99, from Currys. I chose the green coloured one (as it's my favourite colour) and was not dissapointed when it arrived. The colour was exactly as I was expecting and when I opened the netbook the keyboard and screen didn't actually seem that small despite the netbook being a lot smaller than a standard laptop. I think it is because the keyboard stretches from side to side of the netbook, with nearly every bit of available space being used.

Upon switching the netbook on it was fairly easy to set up and it was all done within half an hour. It worked fairly quickly, was easy to use, and every feature my old full size laptop had, apart from a disc drive, which wasn't a problem for me.

Unfortunately since I purchased the dell mini 10, it has become a lot slower, with certain things taking a long time to load and the computer freezing occasionaly. Having said this, I have read quite a lot of reviews on this product, and no one else has said the same thing. I have a feeling there may be a fault with mine, but as I am in France till June I can't see me ringing Dell anytime soon to sort that out. To be honest, going off the last couple of times I have had to ring dell customer support in the past, I wouldn't exactly relish the thought of giving them another call.

The battery on the Dell mini 10 lasts about 2 hours, but I know there is an option if you order it on the dell website to purchase a longer life battery. I just try and keep mine plugged in most of the time so that battery life isn't really an issue.

All in all I would say that the Dell Mini 10 is good value for money, looks stylish, is compact and portable, is easy to use, and has good quality picture and sound.
