Purchasing through the DELL order line was ok! I always struggle talking to foreign call centres particularly in this case as we were both trying to make sure the specs was ok but we struggled to communicate this to each other and I'm sure I ended up with some kind of insurance package I didn't need! But nether the less we both remained calm and patient.

Purchasing through the DELL order line was ok! What I went for: Intel Cenetreno Dual Core 2.00ghz 1gb Ram 110Gb Hard Disk 128mb Graphics card Extended Battery Wifi and Mobile Broadband (free addition) Windows XP Professional
When I received the machine I couldn't believe how light and compact it was. I ordered the extended battery and with the screen on low power I managed to squeeze out 5h 40mins from it. The machine is so quite that I wasn't even sure it had cooling fans and it defiantly takes my home desktop pc for a ride when gaming.
The machine also came with mobile broadband. (As well as all the normal wifi stuff) For a subscription of £25 a month the computer can link to Vodafone 3g network and receive 1.8mb mobile broadband. This machine is truly a mobile delight.
When I take the machine out for use in the office or just before a presentation. The machine seems to receive little gasps of delight from the jealous onlookers! (Not that should be the reason to buy a compact laptop :) )

Advantages: Small, light, great design, battery life up to 8h, memory 120GB Disadvantages: Windows Vista due to number of softwares, plugins etc not being compatible with Vista
I had Dell Inspiron 6000 for the last 1.5 years. It is a very good laptop, however it was too big and too heavy for me to carry around to work and university as well as its 80GB memory was not enough for me so I decided to get a smaller and lighter laptop with greater memory and battery life.
As usually, I logged on to www.dell.com to see what's in stock. Dell XPS M1210 was on a special offer so I checked out its features and value for money (£829 ... ...as its modern design.
Dell XPS M1210 has silver keyboard and silver screen frame with a built-in video camera and its black on the outside. The screen is 12" WXGA (1280x800) with TrueLifeTM .and the best thing about it is that you can leave as many finger prints on it as you like because to clean the screen is very easy! you can do it even with a sock :) that's what my friend did when messing around with my laptop! But he did it with a clean sock ...

The Dell XPS M1210 is small, very small. Its not thick and is not awkwardly shaped like the larger Dell laptops. However, if you opt for the larger battery it has a little protrusion out of the back which can be a little annoying.
If you are buying this laptop get a graphics card with it, if you do not then it will run almost no games. I made the mistake of not opting for a seperate graphics memory card and now the laptop will only play games made ... ...plenty. The start up time is very good and most normal programs run efficiently. Antivirus programs I found ran especially quickly even with a relatively full hard-drive. The hard-drive I selected was 70 GB , I think that this is plenty if you are not fond of putting a lot of movies on your laptop. This memory is fast and reliable, I have not lost any files randomly yet.

On both occasions, Dell were wonderful and had it back working again very quickly, (one time within 10 minutes) and on both occasions there was even a courtessy call 3 days later to check it was still working properly and if they could be of any further help - who could ask for better than that? Definitely recommended to absolutely anyone. ...
