My experience ============ I bought the Dell latitude D505 at a very good price. People say Dells are too expensive but they are wrong, they cost just as much as any other computer. My family has always had Dells and they are excellent computers. Right from the beginning I have been very pleased. I have used it for a while now and it has never let me down.
The keys on the keyboard are very well situated, it is very clear where all of the keys that you don’t use very often. The whole front surface is very well designed; it does look very nice and attractive. I think Dell computers are one of the best on the design point of view and should always be considered one of the first makes you should look at.
The speed is very impressive, it takes about 5 seconds to get from the login on page to the icons, it is also very good on the Internet and games with an excellent graphics card.
Over all in my experience it is an excellent computer and a great choice for the price.
Speed ====== The speed is excellent, it has fast reaction time that is all together very impressive. This computer has impressed me a lot in terms of speed it is very good on the Internet and any games you might have. I have been very pleased with its performance. The downloading time is also very good.
Look and feel ====== This is one of the most impressive things I am going to write about now. The keyboard is set out very well with all of the unusual keys you might use showed very easily and well. The whole design of the surface is very well done and practical. Also the plug ports are very well spaced out with all of the plugs fitting in easily.
Memory/Capacity ============== It has in total 256 MB of RAM, which is very satisfactory. I have not had any problems with the memory even though I have got quite a lot stored on my computer including about seven large games on it. The memory is definitely very good. No problems here unless you want to keep a huge amount on your computer
Comfort and Portability ============= It is quite a light computer and it has no problems especially if you get one of the Dell bags included as well. The bags are very well designed and you can fit a lot in there. I sometimes also use it as a book at the same time. When and if you get this excellent computer I strongly urge you to get a bag with it.
Ease of use ========== It is definitely one of the best and easiest computers to use, it has always got a package called 'help and support' just incase you get stuck. Out of all of my friends laptops I found my own easier to get around even when I had only just bought it. This computer is very easy to use and there is always a very straight forward instruction manual with it if you need it.
Value for Money ============= The value for money is very good. The price was very good for the excellence of this fantastic computer, it comes with a lot of good stats and for me it was an especially good buy. You will definitely get a good bargain with this computer as I did from firsthand experience.
Overall Picture ============ Overall it is a very good buy and I think it will make you very pleased. It is certainly a very good buy, it as good memory, it’s fast, looks good and it is easily moved around. It’s a great buy!!!!!!!
Advantages: Stylish Design, Good Display, Battery Life Disadvantages: Little On the heavy side
...to my previous black chunky Dell laptop, i was taken aback by the silver sleek design!
Design--
The screensize on this laptop is quite large, and when i am away on business it plays DVDs with crystal quality.
The only let down, as you can probably imagine, is a very 'tinny' sounding speaker set-up. Definatley not a laptop for a music producer!!
The silver colour is very impressive, and far more stylish than the old black Dells you used to get.
... ...have a scroller option to the side and below like other Dell's, which is a little of a let down if you are used to using one.
Speed & Performance--
The speed of the processor is 1.5GHz (m), coupled with 256MB RAM, this provides far more power than i really need it for. What else can i say, its quick.. its reliable.. but i dont play games on it!
Weight--
The weight of the laptop os a little heavy for my liking. I dont know the exact weight, by ...

...Toshiba and Compaq), and the Dell Latitude D505 is my personal best!!
On the positives, i am very impressed with the performance i got from the primary battery. If you are using the laptop on battery and replying to e-mails, typing documents, etc, and are not using disk intensive applications or games, you can get anything from 3½ - 5hours(6 Cell Battery). Although it normally averages around 4 hours for normal use. However you could double those ... ...games...take a look at the Dell Inspiron range, as it is geared more to the home/home office user.
The sound is really decent if you enjoy listening to your mp3's while working. I personally was quite impressed with the sound quality.
Another great plus in my books, is Dell's Technical and after sales service/support. In the first week of having my laptop, i experienced a few problems with the modem and soundcard, but within 24 hours of contacting ...

Advantages: Looks smart and has firewire Disadvantages: Screen lift up button is a bit noddy
Dell Latitude D505 Specification:
Pentium M 1.60Ghz
512 Mb
40 Gb
RJ45 connecton
2200BG Wireless
Modem
DVD ROM with writer
This is a smart looking laptop, although the screen release catch is very noddy and flimsy. It has a firewire connection so you can connect a digital camera to it for instance which is rather handy and a nice feature. The mouse pad is really nice and has smooth movement, which is great as some acer laptops I've used recently ... ...in wireless, however it doesn't have an external switch to enable or disable which is a little annoying. Same with bluetooth, it supports bluetooth but there is no external switch to disable or enable it. There is also no phsical light that shows you your wireless or bluetooth connectivity status, which to be honest is really handy especially when you work with users who have restricted access to tools, so unfortunately you have to rely on windows.

Advantages: Well styled, solidly built Disadvantages: Little over priced for spec
This review is about the DellLatitudeD505, though comments about the design of the laptop will apply to any model in the D500 series.
Size and Weight
This is a mid range laptop, it?s light and compact with excellent battery life and is designed to carried around rather than being a high performance desktop replacement.
Styling
The laptop is finished all over in a attractive titanium silver, the styling is quite plain with no ?twiddly bits? to distract the eye (...and fall off...). Build quality is excellent, the laptop has a quality solid feel.
Performance
This particular model has a 1.3ghz Celeron M processor and 256mb, its not the most powerful laptop you?ll find but it?s perfectly adequate for running office applications. Windows XP and Office 2003 are both very responsive. The graphics chipset is nothing special - no ...

THE FINDINGS OF THE INQUIRY
After much deliberation the verdict of this inquiry is that the Acer Aspire 3613 is a highly desirable and attractive notebook with many attributes and qualities which are not usually found in one so cheap
It represents excellent value for money and compares favourably with other notebook brands of similar specification. For example, the DellLatitudeD505 is built around the same Celeron M processor but the Acer Aspire offers more memory, more screen area, more ports, and more of everything as far as one can tell. Also, it is arguably better looking and at least £100 lower in price! Many of its state of the art features, like the high-tech screen and 512mb system memory, are not usually found in anything under £600.
The 3613 has proven extremely reliable ...
