The Dell Optiplex GX520 is a reasonalby well-featured computer for the price. It has a 3GHz Intel 4 processor, which is more than adequate for everyday tasks and a very reasonable 2GB of memory - just as vital for speeding up your system. It is also extremely reliable and I have never had any problems with it.
The computer is very quiet - you hardly notice it is running. As SF stands for small form factor, this is the most compact of the three GX520 models, and as such, you can put it horizontally on your desktop, with your monitor atop it. Which option you go for depends on whether you want a compact system, or one which will allow for easier expansion. The only thing that took some getting used to is that the DVD/CD drawer is on it's side and at first putting CDs etc in was not easy! However, I have this in use as a "tower" - you can place it on it's side and then your draw would be in the usual position!
Also I did not much like the sound through the internal speaker so bought two external speakers. These were easy to connect and inexpensive and the sound is now fine.
Some of the USB ports are located on the front of the system which makes life easier - especially since I download pics from my camera on a regular basis.
