...First of all, if you have stumbled across the three different modles -

and are confused about the differences, the only difference is in the size / flexibility of the chasis - e.g.
MT = Mini Tower
DT = Desktop
SF = Small Form factor
On the inside they are all the same. The standard model has a Pentium 4 - 2.8GHz at its heart and comes with 1GB RAM and a 80GB hard disk. Keyboard is a standard Dell budget / plastic feel 102 key job; as is the mouse. Upgrades are of course available at a price. The cost for this basic machine is around £350, but depending on what offers Dell has/had going at the time of purchase, you may well be able to get a 160GB hard disk and 2 GB RAM thrown in free of charge. The only thing that took some getting used to is that the DVD/CD drawer is on it's side and at first putting CDs etc in was not easy! However, I have this in use as a "tower" - you can place it on it's side and then your draw would be in the usual position!
Also I did not much like the sound through the internal speaker so bought two external speakers. These were easy to connect and inexpensive and the sound is now fine.
Some of the USB ports are located on the front of the system which makes life easier - especially since I download pics from my camera on a regular basis.
I would definitely recommend...

...Faster computer than I have had before took a bit of minor adjustment in my knowledge of windows being MT. Had no problems within 18 months of purchase. With exception of virus which is not the computer itself but due to connection to broadband.
Bought over from the dell website but since seen cheaper on ebay, amazon etc ...bought monitor serparately as my'n just came with a key board.
Looks good and has performed all functions well, have not used the cd parts much though. Mainly used for broadband/internet and for home working, its on most of the time for both me and my addicted 41/2 year old, who learns skills on cbeebies - so it must be relatively tough!
Not sure about manufacturer support as have not needed to use, found it easy to set up and run. Have not needed to refer to manual since I set it up.
