...With my computer came a Dell power cable. Ok you can't really call it a Dell power cable but they do supply it so I'l blame them...

I e-mailed Dell and they said "Were send you a brand new cable" Well I was over the moon... not!
I at least wanted a free bit of RAM... My life was put in danager because of a dodgy power cable but because Dell didn't know where the problem happened they couldn't do anything but send out a new cable.

So you've looked at the strange title and then seen that I'm reviewing a power cable! Now your wondering how I'm going to manage at least 120 words on a power cable. Well it's going to be easy seen as it's a......Dell.... power cable.

After unpacking my computer and plugging everything in I turned on the switch and..... well nothing. I checked all the wires and everything was plugged in so yet again I turned on the switch and.... well nothing again.
After inspecting the cables for a few minutes I found a complete break in the power cable! I ran to the switch and shut it off before continuing my investigation. The outside of the power cable was split and a number of wires on the inside had been broken.

A standard power cable costs around £5 or comes free with a monitor or case. If your ordering over the internet be sure to take a quick look at your order before signing it. Ok you might delay the driver a bit but who cares! It's your order.
I'm very unimpressed with this power cable. It should be much stronger.

Advantages: Very sleek and good for both work and entertainment Disadvantages: Battery life isn't great
Prior to buying this laptop, I'd ad a Dell laptop. I'd had a few problems with the Dell, with the motherboard coming loose and the powercable malfunctioning. So when I saw this HP laptop on offer I decided to give it a go.
I ordered from the HP site and it took a while to be delivered, but when it arrived I was blown away. It is a very sexy piece of kit. Very slim and stylish and that 15.4" screen is excellent for work, games and DVD's.
It was simple to set up and get running and (touch wood) after 5 months I've had no problems with it. It runs everything I need with ease and the hard drive is plenty big enough. Most importantly it runs Football Manager brilliantly, which in my opinion is the benchmark for any computer.
One touch I really like is the rempte control. It's a simple keypad that can be stored withi the laptop ...
Advantages: Well built, strong and robust Disadvantages: Heavy and can get a bit hot with prolonged use
with most games that I have tried.
The powercable is very well designed by Dell. It has a long cable and is able to pack away very nicely and neatly for transport.
The Dell customer support is very good and they are prepared to spend a long time trying to fix any problems. I have been very pleased with their support.
The only main downpoint is that it can get quite hot with prolonged use, not very good when working with it on your lap, but fine when on a table.
The laptop comes with a touchpad and little sensor button in the centre for the mouse. The keyboard is quite robust and the inbuilt speakers are satisfactory, but not suitable for good quality sound.
This is a good solid laptop which I have been very happy with for 2 years. It can be relied on for everyday use. However don't buy it for portability or specialist use as ...
Advantages: High quality components, good build quality Disadvantages: Not the sleekest laptop in the world
under the WinXP operating system which shows that the components used are of a very good quality.
I have found that the 2hour battery life is excellent especially in a power cut where everyone using their desktop PCs can't be getting on with their work.
Included with the Dell Inspiron:
+ Internet cable (modem to phone socket)
+ Wrist pads
+ Recovery CDs
+ Operating Manuals
+ Power pack and leads
+ Battery (already fitted)
The laptop is delivered to your door within 14 days (at time of writing) and is packaged in a well paded foam encased box so that it doesn't become damaged in transit. The manuals found inside the box are very helpful for begineers and more experienced oomputer users alike.
Dell Inspiron laptops range from about £900 to £1600. Mine was £1400 after a web-order discount. When buying a laptop I suggest you ...
