Sleek looking huh? a beautiful design from Dell worn by their Precision M4300. Not only does its exterior look smart but the graphics on this thing are amazing. Pumping away with a 512Mb graphics card from Nvidia makes this little beauty perfect for computer aided design and animation.
=== Specs ===
Can bought with either Microsoft XP professional or Vista ...the lower end of the Dell specs scale but it was still very nifty. For the price you wouldn't really expect much less then what you get, but its still helpful. Though the graphics are extremely capable, i think any designers should at least consider this when they look for a new laptop, its not really one for entertainment, so *serious* gamers should consider looking elsewhere. Not that it wouldn't do for everyday entertainment,but if your looking ... more

Introduction
Sleek looking huh? a beautiful design from Dell worn by their Precision M4300. Not only does its exterior look smart but the graphics on this thing are amazing. Pumping away with a 512Mb graphics card from Nvidia makes this little beauty perfect for computer aided design and animation.
Specs
Can bought with either Microsoft XP professional or Vista Standard model has Intel dual core processor with speeds ranging from 1.8Ghz (with 2Mb L2 Cache memory) to 2.6 Ghz (with 4Mb L2 Cache memory). LCD screen is 15.4" with option of having anti glare added. Either 1, 2 or 4 Gb SDRAM. Graphics card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 360M with 512Mb memory (not optional). Hard drive is 80Gb to 200Gb or a 32Gb solid state drive. Standard models comes WITHOUT a optical drive but a choice of either a 8x DVD ROM or a 24x CD RW/DVD can be added. There are also additional features you can buy such as software and mouses etc if buying with Dell.
Personal Experience
Now the laptop i had a try with, i have to admit, was at the lower end of the Dell specs scale but it was still very nifty. For the price you wouldn't really expect much less then what you get, but its still helpful. Though the graphics are extremely capable, i think any designers should at least consider this when they look for a new laptop, its not really one for entertainment, so *serious* gamers should consider looking elsewhere. Not that it wouldn't do for everyday entertainment,but if your looking for one that your wanting to play DVD's with your going to be cashing out more on a adapted model, due to it not coming with any form of optical drive, then having one come standard with it. Though for general purposes this product is fine as long as you remember you are purchasing a Dell laptop. I don't know everyone else's experiences with dell laptops but if your considering this as a long term investment, again, i would turn away. I have had two previous Dell laptops and both have become broken, for unknown reasons, within a year of purchase. This, I'm sure, is probably my fault (something to do with blocking the fan maybe) but reliability i would not say was one of Dells strong points, but thats just my opinion.
Closing Comments
Designers should defiantly consider, Every day usage maybe, Gamers not really.
Advantages: Long battery life, good performance, clear screen Disadvantages: Bulky, lack of SD card reader
The Dell M4300 is the laptop of choice for my company. The 4300 has proven to be a very stable laptop, but with stability comes size. They are somewhat bulky, but I feel it is a trade off worth making for the better performance over the smaller models. Also the added size gives room for a bigger battery which can last as much as 3 hours at times. One thing that I do wish that was on the m4300 is a 12-in-1 card reader. I have found it a bit of a pain ...

Quick review of Dell Precision M4300
Runs Vista like a dream. Brilliant screen, familiar Dell keyboard layout.
Supports bitlocker whole drive encryption so can be used with sensitive data with less worry about the data theft.
Battery life is amazing. I have the high capacity battery plus drive bay battery and can go for most of a working day without being plugged in to the mains if i need to.
Only downside I've found is with Dell's QuickSet utilities which are a bit eager turning off network cards, but these can be disabled. ...
