There are huge competition in Laptop market, where in popular 15.4" series laptop market there is vast improvements.
15.4" screen laptops are most selling laptop and every company having its own criteria to capture maximum share in this field.
Having this strategy computer laptop giants Apple, Sony, Dell, Hp, Asus, Toshiba, Acer all there are having peak competition and doing better as well customer getting good benefits and technology as well.
You know that in this series laptop, Apple MacBook have good share of satisfaction in consumer market, for its class of graphics and quality.
MacBook is old brand of Apple sometimes of five years old, and MacBook keeps going on its emperor by upgrading its model time to time.

Other than Apple Dell also have some good models in 15'4" series and after its success of XPS series they have launched new studio series brand in 15.4" category and 17" category.

I will discuss here Dell Studio 15, its design its quality, features and disadvantages as well.

Dell Studio 15, comes in two deferent types, one is general edition and other-one is special art edition, and both models are available in seven deferent colors, you can chose your favorite color and make some extra fun in your life.
There are some different in functions and price!
Dell provide basic configuration on both of models, but we can upgrade it as according to our requirements and than we can order it.

What basic configuration and how much we can upgrade….have a look.

Operating System
Dell provides Windows Vista Home premium 32 Bit operating system with service pack 1.
There is further option to upgrade this as ultimate version, but I think that will be bit costlier, premium version is more enough.

Processor
Over clocking is a man problem in laptops, Intel has done better work toward improving this problem and now it is better.
Studio 15 have Intel Core2 Duo processor in both of models, General edition has Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5850 processor with clock speed of
2.16 GHz, L2 Cache is 2MB, and front side bus size is 667 MHz .
We have option to upgrade it in
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8100 processor with clock speed of
2.1 GHz, L2 Cache is 3MB, and front side bus size is 800 MHz .

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8100 processor with clock speed of
2.1 GHz, L2 Cache is 3MB, and front side bus size is 800 MHz .

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300 processor with clock speed of
2.4 GHz, L2 Cache is 3MB, and front side bus size is 800 MHz .

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9300 processor with clock speed of
2.5GHz, L2 Cache is 6MB, and front side bus size is 800 MHz .

• Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9300 processor with clock speed of5
2.56GHz, L2 Cache is 6MB, and front side bus size is 800 MHz .

But for Higher processor we have to pay more… it may be some costliest.
I think 2.5 GHz processor means T9300 will be the best, and you can use laptop smoothly with it without any trouble, but there may be some technical problem that doesn't matter, it will be best choice

Memory

Memory Provided with both model are same as…
3GB Dual-channel (2GBx1 and 1GBx1) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 3 Gb memory is enough to run any programme, for further assistant to run heavy software u should use better graphics card.
You have another option to upgrade memory to 4GB(2GBx2).

Chipset
Studio 15 contain Intel 965 GM chipset, bit older but good as for windows vista.

Hard Disk Drive..

Sometimes two years ago when 80 GB hard disk was more enough in laptops and even in PC also, due to high cost and less requirements people couldn't afford high capacity disk, but now condition has changed and 250GB hard disk is more familiar bur in PC there is 500GB is normal.
Dell has given 250GB in both of model, just enough, but there is up-gradation available to 320GB.
But that will bi bit costlier, I will suggest you to keep one extra portable hard disk, that can provide higher data transfer and will be cheap also.
Now a days is time for Solid State Drive and flash drive, that gives better security for data but they are costly so that as a new technology…that will be some costly as well as low capacity also, so that wait for price go down.

Graphics Card
I always consider graphics card with most priority in laptops because now a days the time is computer graphics, and games.
So that they require more graphics memory to run smoothly and easily..
So that it is more important..
These two models vary according to graphics card, general one have 'Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100' which is more common in all other laptops and some older one..
But other art model has some improved graphics '256 MBATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450' and will be better for games.

And other feature which are most common like DVD RW, Bluetooth, card reader, speakers etc
But one thing I have to mention here that Art Model has finger reader built in it but other one does not contain this.

Battery
Both models have 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery, that is bit older and familiar, but it cannot provide long term back-up, you can upgrade it to 9 cell battery

Conclusion..
Overall this laptop is better for general purpose but for graphics purpose like 3D modeling in Maya, 3ds max, AutoCAD and some higher gaming purpose it will not provide better graphics so that if you are thinking for 3Dmodeling purpose than look for high graphics option, and you want for general office and home purpose it will be better option for you..
