Dell Studio 15

Dell studio 15 is a 15.4" dell laptop which has a good range of features and a handy specifications. The price of this laptop is $800 in the market which is good because of the wide range of specification and features.

Build and design:
Studio 15 is a little heaver than other notebooks in its class like the studio 17 which was a 17" laptop had less weight as compared to the studio 15. While the design of the notebook gives it the appearance that it's rather thick but it is of the same thickness that other 15'' laptops are. Its weight is however fine as 15" laptops are. But can be considered heavy in its studio class. The weight is 6.1 pound (2.8KG). The design of this laptop is similar to the some XPS laptops so you can think how good it must look like.

Screen:
The screen is a 15.4" WXGA (1280x800 resolution), The screen looks nice and bright and its glossy finish helps to pop colors up and is really good for watching movies. It gives a great picture and color form all all viewing angles except at lower viewing angle when the screen is tilted backwards.

Keyboard, touchpad and media controls:
The keyboard on the Studio 15 is quite good with nice key travel and proper key size and spacing. I felt that the key pressing sound was a bit louder than i expected it to be but it was comfortable in writing. The touchpad works really well and the click sound is very low and the click have excelent cushions and travel. There is also set of media bottons and has LED backlight in them. The backlight goes off after you press it so that will not irritate your eyes all the time. It also includes a remote control which gets fit into the express card slot and it will help you with you media files to be controlled easily.

Ports and features:
It has no ports at front, not even at the back side. On the left hand side there is a WiFi on/off button, security lock slot, wifi locator, HDMI slot, VGA, 2 USB ports, ethernet port, 8in 1 memory card reader, headphone and microphone jack and express card slot. And on the right hand side it has firewire, two USB ports, power button and power jack. I think port wise this laptop is great. The high definition HDMI port will make the user happy who want a high definition media output. But the bad thing is there is no audio HDMI port. The slot loading drive (DVD-+/RWdrive) makes a bit of noise which can be a bit irritating sometimes. But it looks noise as compared to the tray type drives. The Notebook also has a built in 2.0 MP camera which can be used for multi purpose.

Speakers:
The sound quality is good and has a build in subwoofer. Though the sound may get a bit distorted when full but the sound is loud enough to make a user satisfied.

Performance:
Most important parts of a laptop are the internal components that do all the work. It has a processor of Intel core 2 duo 2.0 GHz and a 3GB Ram which is really good for windows vista and running most the applications. The 250GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard disk drive (HDD) is a 5400rpm drive with good and fast performance. The integrated graphics card intel X3100 is good enough.

Noise and heat:
The Dell studio 15 does control heat very well. The fan blows out very hot air though when heavy applications are used but the whole laptops never get heated and the noise is very low thats the best part.

Battery Life:
On the normal mode and brightness 50% the bettery gives around 3hours 45 min of service. Which is really very good for this type of a laptop.
