After weeks of searching the internet for a new computer, I finally settled for the Dell Studio 540. I have owned this computer for a little over two months now, and have to say, that I am quite pleased with it’s performance. When it was delivered it was well packed, and all the glossy parts of the base unit were covered with protected covering, which takes a few moments to peel off. Everything was pre-installed so I didn’t need to use the enclosed windows vista operating disc, or drivers. Once I plugged it in, the first thing I noticed was how quite it was compared to my old pc, the first few seconds it’s just a wee bit loud, but even that is still quieter than my old pc, but it soon settles down to just a whisper. If there are any gripes with this pc then it as to be the button that is pressed to open the dvd tray. Opening the tray is okay, but when I come to close it, the tray almost covers the button in which I need to press to close it again. I’ve overcome this problem by searching online for free programs, that allow me to open and close the dvd tray with just a click of an icon on the desktop or system tray. I ordered the studio 540 direct from dell which allowed me to customise the specifications to my own liking.
