Dell was founded by Michael Dell in the summer of 1984 and was originally named 'PC limited'. Dell was recognised as one of the first pioneers within this new model of business practice. The only competitors they had was IBM, and IBM was sole provider within this market. Then, the speeds were around 2k per processor. Mr. Dell wanted to find away to quicken up data processing and started work on harvesting a fanatic prototype; so in 1985, he managed it with a flabbergasting 8MHz processor speed. Michael was on his way to being a success in the US and has gone from strength to strength. Revenue 2006>> just over 56 Billion.

USB - abreviation of Universal Serial Bus - A standard port for computer components to be connected using a single standardised interface socket. Every computer (of younger than 5 years old) connect these ports to access plug-and-play capabilities by allowing devices to be connected and disconnected without restarting the computer, so the computer 'boots up' automatically the USB content; therefore without losing any information through the rebooting process. USB ports are used by external devices such as digital camera's, printers, hubs, extra storage/CD/DVD drives etc.
# The USB Flash Drive 128MB # The removable drive is known as a key or a stick. The length is 2.5 inches long with a socket at the end which goes into the USB port/hub on your PC. The PC immediately this device as an external device and loads up without a prompt. Very simple and easy to use.
The 128MB is the amount of space that the USB Drive has available in storage. The device will allow that amount of memory on the key/stick at one time. When the key/stick is full the file will be rejected from the drive and a prompt will state that their was not enough memory in the drive to complete the file transfer; so to solve the problem; files will have to be deleted.
# Price # The price for a 128MB flash drive is £5.99, I got mine from the Dell accessory section with my PC order. I give it 9/10 value for money.
# My verdict # The 128MB is hardly a mass amount of data storage these days, but still they have a use. I recommend that the 128MB sticks should only store text data files within Word/Excel applications. No room for audio and video files alike; or any media orientated data files. The Dell memory stick is a big must for the office. They are very good value and it doesn't matter if you send one via the post and don't get it back.
Advantages: stores all types of files for transit Disadvantages: prompts are not so good
