The dell Vostro 1700 is a good piece of technology. It have used it now for 6 months roughly and the thing i find great about dell's computers is their durability even when kept turned on for long hours (sometimes a couple of days in my case!!).
This laptop is powerful and has a good quality screen that does not get marked easyly, unlike the other new laptops from dell, where the screen gets marked easyly due to the ultra clean and shinyness of it.
I reccomend this product if you need a laptop to go, with a wide screen, full keyboard (includes the extra numbers like on the normal keyboard) and you will be using it for things like word processing, internet browsing, website development and more! All types of home and small business uses are covered with this decent laptop.
However i do not reccomend this if you intend to use this for gaming purposes. I personally dont think laptops are that durable for gaming, as their DVD/CD drives wear off easyly. So even if you have a "gaming laptop" with all high specs, i still reccomend getting a full PC system as they last forthings like that. Not to say that i have not played games on this model of delss laptop, just not the best experience.
I also think if you need a laptop for traveling purposes. This is not the one to get. It is a little bit too heavy for managing all around, from business meetings to anything else, its difficult to manage. Its best to pay more and buy the thinnest available and keep it only for traveling purposes.
The only problem i saw in this laptop is that it gives error messeges from time to time regarding the power plug not being from a dell brand. Which is untrue because i purchased my laptop directly from dells website. This is a glitch in their programming, tho the error messege rarely comes, it still annoyed me for the price i am paying for this, as well as the brand name of dell , which always means quality and durability.
