Between pressing the power button and the computer being ready to use, you are looking at around 30 seconds. This includes me entering my password to log on. ... ...hadn't been for the current Dell offer and a discount code I had at the time. I will admit, I wouldn't have paid £920 for the system, no chance!
Since starting the computer for the first time, I haven't had a single problem with it that wasn't caused by a faulty disk or my lack of patience. I would recommend it to anyone, even gamers. ... more

I ordered a custom built XPS 420 directly from Dell which contains a 2.40GHz Quad Core processor, 4GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 9800GT, and all the other good stuff a computer needs. I ordered it late night on a Sunday, and I had it setup and working by the Thursday. Best of all? Shipping was free!
Between pressing the power button and the computer being ready to use, you are looking at around 30 seconds. This includes me entering my password to log on. I see this as an advantage when I install new software and have to restart, it only takes 30 seconds so there are no worries about getting bored during boot.
Despite the high performance parts inside it, the tower hardly kicks out any heat or noise at all. When I first "wake" my computer from sleep mode, the fan kicks into overdrive for literally a few seconds, and then its back to being hardly noticeable. The CD/DVD drive is probably the noisiest component which isn't anything bad.
Value for money is close to borderline with the 420, but I can't complain. Three of the parts inside alone are worth as much as I paid for the entire system (tower, mouse/keyboard, 20inch monitor) so I didn't hesitate in ordering it. The reason I say it is borderline is simply because £750 is a lot of money to me, the total price would have been around $920 if it hadn't been for the current Dell offer and a discount code I had at the time. I will admit, I wouldn't have paid £920 for the system, no chance!

The dell xps 420 is a very good studio computer released by dell.
It has many diffrent feaures such at the unique case designed to keep the cpu cool and vent cold air in through the front port and out the back it does this very efficiently.
The dell xps comes with diffrent specs depending where you got it from.
The one i own was from pc world and has a ati raedon hd 3870 graphics card, core 2 quad q8200 2.33ghx and 1333mhz fsb wit h4mb cache,4 ... ...the coolest features on the dell xps 420 is that is has a small screen on top of the desktop its self. This has many cool aps on it (cpu meter, ram meter slide show things like that..) and you can download moe from the net.
This computer is very good for running multiple task at once but it is also good on the gaming side.
crysis settings very high (dx10) 8x aa screen res 1280 x 720 running with fraps at about 27 fps (lower during some cut scenes) ...
