The De'Longhi 0190 is a fan assisted combination oven and grill. I have owned this little gem for nearly 3 years and I picked it up off eBay for £30.

The oven exterior is chrome and black with a glass drop down door. The door has a convenient, well placed handle which keeps finger marks off the glass. On each side of the oven are odd rounded protuberances and I am unsure of their purpose; they could be part of its retro styling or they could conceal some of the cookers innards.

It comes with 2 grey enamel cooking trays which are very easy to keep clean as not a lot sticks to them and the stuff that does is easily released with a quick soak. There are 2 shelves and it is possible to raise or lower the position of these. There is one grid insert included to use when grilling foods such as bacon where the fat needs to run off.

It is very easy to operate. On the front are 3 dials. The top dial is for the temperature and is graduated from 60.c to 120.c. the middle dial selects the time and is graduated from 5 minutes to 120. The bottom dial is the oven setting, and there are 4 choices;
Defrost
Fan
Oven
Grill.
It isn’t possible to combine settings but it isn’t actually necessary. To operate it you plug it in, set the temperature dial and the oven setting then when you select the time the oven begins cooking. When the set time is reached the cooker has an audible alarm to alert you and it turns itself off.

The oven is a perfect size for cooking small portions or things such as oven chips where you don’t want to heat a full size oven. This is much more economical as you are heating a much smaller space.

Its measurements are 45 cm (18 in) wide 25 cm (10 in) deep and 20 cm (8 in) tall. The interior cavity is 12 litres which is apparently enough to cook a small chicken although I have never used it for this purpose. Inside the oven are 2 large elements one on the ceiling and one on the bottom. Cooking occurs from both the top and bottom and the fan circulates the hot air if you select that setting.

I use it mainly for small things; oven chips, heating croissants, toasting muffins, warming plates and heating ready meals. It is quick to heat up as the space is small and the fan assists in cooking foods quickly and evenly.

Cleaning is easy. The exterior wipes clean as does the interior. The glass door isn’t removable but I don’t find this to be a problem and just wipe it over after use with a sponge and washing up liquid in hot water. If anything gets knocked off a tray it is easy to pick up when the oven is cool.

It isn’t without a couple of faults: If you use both trays you have to rotate them partway through the cooking so the unexposed surface cooks evenly; for example the bottom tray will have the bottom of the food cook the most as it is nearer to that element so when you rotate it you are exposing the top surface of that food to the top element so it will brown and vice versa. If you cook fatty foods such as sausage it does tend to smoke.

I use this cooker quite a lot particularly when my husband is working away as it is so convenient and economical for one. It sits on top of my microwave so it is at eye level which is very handy

I have been looking for something like this to keep excess BBQ meats hot, but as this also cooks it looks ideal. Great review.
