Never thought I'd say this about a kitchen gadget but I simply love my new toaster; not only does it fit in with my slightly retro kitchen (the toaster's red colour is classy rather than garish) but it also does the job amazingly well. Its four slice capacity is a blessing with two children in the house and, given that my partner has an obsession with toasted bagels the toaster's variable functions are great. The toaster's separate controls for cooking time are also handy as you can choose the cooking time per two slices and which also means you don't have to waste energy by having all the toaster's elements working whenever you use it. It isn't cheap but I'd still thoroughly recommend it; in fact I went out and bought the matching kettle!

You have the beginnings of a good review, but reviews need loads more info for higher ratings. I agree with you though - we have a DeLonghi toaster (not the same one pictured, though) and we really love its cute retro style!
