Advantages: Chrome finish looks fab. Good weight and quality. Would be great value if it was useable! Disadvantages: Water water everywhere (and still no coffee)

I bought the DeLonghi Ec 270 for espresso, cappuccino etc and it looks and feels great. Bought from local outlet, not best price, just like to do that for after sales service. I loved the finish and weight. It made good coffee but right from the outset water leaked copiously from the reservoir seal and flooded the worktop. After a few such floodings I assumed it to be a one-off faulty machine. At this point I was glad I had bought locally. No trouble in getting it replaced but exactly the same happened with the new one. I checked everything, got others to look at it just in case it was me (I'm technically competent usually) but the conclusion was (in our humble opinion) it could be a design fault. Such a pity, because it looked like a great piece of kit at the price.....and rendered 'unfit for purpose' by one dodgy seal. Potential buyers may be advised to check with DeLonghi first to see if it is a recognized problem, and if it has now been rectified. At this point I would have gone and made myself a nice cup of coffee.........sigh
Advantages: Excellent coffee and milk frothing Disadvantages: early failure
I bought a Morphy Richard 47507 coffee machine just over 2 years ago, at 1 year and 1 week the display failed, but it was rapidly replaced by the company.
The replacement broke down within the following 11 months, it stopped water production after half a cup and just steamed and became very hot.
Unfortunatly it was over the 2 year guarantee period, which is based on the purchase date of the original coffee machine ???
As a coffee maker it made excellent coffee and frothed well.
It is such the pity that they average only 1 year, before they self destruct and the manufacturers gaurantee only covered the original.
It PAINED me to take it to my local recycling plant.
Let's see how the DelonghiEC270 fares, +extra cover. ...
