The missus and I decided that we oculd use a coffee machine - and that we couldn't spend a fortune on the shiny espresso one we wanted. Yes, I know, Posh.
So, out came the catalogue from work - and this one was decided on. Eventually. Despite the fact that it's not red.
It is, in fact, black. With a shiny silver handle.
What swung the choice in favour of this particular model is the "complete front fill" system - in other words, you don't have to faff around with the lid, the whole front hinges out so you can pour the water into the funnel (12 cups worth) and put the coffee into the integrated filter without bothering to move anything you may have resting on the top.
So, once we got the thing home, we set about using it for the first time... and it worked admirably - with a couple of niggles along the way, I must admit.
Niggle number one - it sounds like your granny sucking a worthers original. through a straw. By this, I mean it slurps, gurgles, and generally makes a lot of noise... not exactly perfect, but I need coffee, so I'll let it slide. The missus just giggles every time I mention this.
Niggle number two - the coffee is lukewarm unless you leave it on the plate for at least half an hour. I've actually taken to putting hot water through the machine in an endeavor to make coffee fast and hot. This doesn't seem to work.
On the plus side, it is easy to dissasemble for cleaning - on the downside, the mesh filter clings to the coffee like a frightened child to it's parents leg. Other than that, it's a quick swill out and ready to go again.
All in all, it's a slurpy gurgly warm coffee making machine - but it does, in fact, do what it advertises, and it's easy to use.
