Delonghi KBX3016

For a long time I have admired DeLonghi kitchen appliances, particularly the kettles that come in some very elegant shapes. When I saw a white DeLonghi cordless kettle for half price in Homebase last summer, I couldn’t resist and bought it on impulse for £34. What can I say about the Delonghi KBX 3016 that could possibly convince a potential consumer out there to part with £49.99 of their hard earned money for an appliance that basically boils water and does it very slowly? Not much I have to say as having now had this ugly contraption sat in my kitchen for over 2 months on a daily basis I get upset that it: a) Cost £49.99 b) Looks truly awful and is literally the Elephant Man of the kettle world c) Doesn't boil water as quickly as I would like d) Is noisy as hell e) Is the most difficult appliance I have ever been tasked with cleaning OK, well ... more

This is the first review that I have updated, below is the original review. The kettle that I had looked forward to using and that seemed, after a few months use to be a good buy definitely lost points after a while. First I dropped the lid and the little circle under the knob of the lid broke. My fault for dropping it but I thought it would be stronger. It is quite difficult to read the water level which is situated under the handle. OK for me but my husband who is a lot taller kept filling it up to it's max level as he could not judge the level without lifting up to his eyes. Cracks started ... more

I have always been a big fan of Delonghi products, however this kettle may have changed my mind! It may look the part but it is an absolute nightmare. First of all it is so loud that when on you have to stop the conversation and wait for it to finish boiling! Filling the kettle up is also a problem, the spout is too narrow so you must take the lid off in order to fill it up. This would not bother me if the lid was not so tight and an absolute struggle to take off! Do not attempt to take it off if there is still hot water inside as you risk getting burnt as the water splashes around as you try ... more
