Full review
Hi all and sorry for the long stay away from Ciao but things have been really hectic this end but now the warm weather is fast approaching I have dusted down my next item for review. I bought a Delonghi L40 air conditioning unit last year when the weather hit it’s extra hot heights and once the summer died down it got packed away. Being so hot last year we had some serious problems in our bedroom what with the windows getting moist due to lack of ventilation whenever we had a shower etc and causing condensation when the windows were closed, weird I know but that is what happened. As well as the ventilation problem in our bedroom it also acts like an oven when the heat hit’s the windows and come bed time it is hotter in the bedroom than outside so much so I went to B&Q and spent a whooping £400.00 on an air conditioning unit but what a difference it made.

The Unit acts not only as an air cooler but also as a dehumidifier removing unwanted moisture from the air so great for keeping us cool in bed at night and good for ventilating the bedroom and keeping on top of build up of moisture on the windows. The unit has three settings for temperature and is thermostatically monitored, when on it draws in warm air and passes it over a refrigerating unit which cools it and the fans dispel it at whichever setting you require. The unit runs off of the mains supply and has a 1 metre hose that you need to feed externally to remove the excess hot air from the room, this can be done via a small hole through the wall or as I do just hanging it out of the window as it is only small and slim so window can remain more or less shut.

There is also the ability to set a time built into the unit to control when you want it to come on and off during the day ideal for keeping the heat down during the day preventing that uncomfortable few minutes when you first go to bed. Because the unit is portable I can move it around the house especially good when the living areas are hot and uncomfortable (god wish I had never bought leather sofas). The unit is easy to move around as it is on wheels but if you are having to lift be warned it is heavy so best kept on one floor level. The unit when in operation is very quiet indeed almost silent and certainly does not disturb us whilst asleep or watching TV in the living room.

Amazingly and to my surprise it is even remote controlled so when your all snuggled up in bed there is no need to get out to turn it down or off just lean over grab the remote and there you have it all off or on. The controls are very simple and none fussy no flashy digital display etc just a good quality and very effective air conditioning unit. On top of all of this the unit is A energy rated which also means that running it is reasonably cheap and efficient to run if a little on the expensive side to buy in the first place. The unit itself is silver with a black back and has built in carry handles for moving around the home.

Overall Opinion
---------------------

Overall I would recommend this to anybody who hates those hot and extremely uncomfortable summer nights or those who have a problem with moisture in the room. It is expensive but will pay for itself in a couple of years of use and this beats 20 fans hands down for giving you a nice cool room to live in come the height of summer and with temperatures seemingly hotter every year it could become an everyday appliance. Maintenance is non existent and it comes with a 2 year warranty, cleaning is very easy a quick dust down and its ready to go again however I will get mine serviced after this year just to keep it working perfectly. I hope this review has been informative and helps you decide which air conditioning unit to buy and thank you for reading my review after all it is my first in about a month.
