|Value for Money|
Delphiniums are a plant that reminds me of the summer days of my childhood. My parents and grandparents had several in their gardens. I now have one too. Mine grows in a sunny position. They are really a traditional country garden flower.Delphiniums come in white, cream, yellow, pink, mauve and blue. Out of all the colours I prefer the blue.
These flowers make a lovely backdrop in the border.
The Delphinium has attractive pale green leaves which are lobed, look a bit like a maple leaf. A sturdy stem grows and has many florets on it.
The Delphinium can also be called a Larkspur. They can be either an annual or Perennials.
They are fairly easy to grow from seed but the seed saved from your own delphinium probably will not be the same colour as its parent plant.
The Delphinium is flowering now, it flowers from June, till July and some into August
Delphinium is a poisonous plant can be fatal if the small black seeds eaten. The leaves might cause a rash too. The Delphinium is a member of the Ranunculaceae/ buttercup family. You should be able to buy plants at your local garden centre or on line for a few pounds. Seeds can be obtained from many seeds merchants or garden centres off or on line for a couple of pounds.
