Watts per channel and all the surround decoding you'll need to turn every source in your audio/video system into convincing surround sound. With the new HDMi 1.3a inputs/outputs that allow handling the video signal with higher speed. Plus this model has video up conversation capable output to HDMi
DCDi upscaling up to 1080p, a 7 x 100 watt amplifier configurable for 7.1 or 5.1 with biamped front speakers, multi room capability and Audyssey MultEQ auto microphone calibration and equalisation. A top notch mid/high range receiver!
Advantages: Good all round HiFi and cinema amp Disadvantages: fiddly to set up
...I have been using a DenonAVR3300 Receiver now for 4 months as the heart of my home cinema system and have found it a great performer. The sound is very comparable to my old Technics HiFi amp, even with pure CD Audio.
The Amp has plenty of power, good frequency range and seems to suit my TDL floorstanding speakers. I use a B&W centre speaker and Paradigm sub. AR-8 rears make up the full complement.
Only niggles are:
- Complex programming
- No digital out
- Could do with 2 more video in sockets
- Poor remote control (ugly)
For £600 (if you shop around) I think it is a good value amp for the quality and performance....

...When I bought this I did serious research as AVR's are costly buys. There was only one model above this but I felt this was the best value for money! It does everything I want, and it does it superbly and with style! The sound quality from Denon is second to none in my opinion. The set up takes a little while as with any product of this nature but the instructions are brilliant and everything has pictures if you're not the most clued up person! If you're going to spend the money on this kind of product its also worth investing in some decent gold plated cables to get the best from it. It has a pretty detailed remote control which can all but control your washing machine and this takes a bit of time to get used to if you don't have an AVR already but you soon get used to it and wonder why you even need buttons on the amp! It looks...
