Dermalogica say that you should apply this lotion twice a day after cleansing and toning and this should be done using upward strokes. They then say for best results this should be used after the facewash and multi active toner and moisturiser (please see my other reviews).
I use this product every day along with the toner and face wash. As a teenager having been prone to acne I was brought this as a present. I was a little disaponited with my gift but after trying it I was really pleased as my problemed skin cleared up quite quickly and I knew it was down to the dermalogica. Whether this was down to the face wash, toner or moisturiser (or the whole lot) I can not tell you.
The lotion is really easy to apply and comes in a tube. It is even light enough to wear under make up and I find that it is the perfect base for it. The smell is quite nice, but a bit non descriptive really- not horrible and not nice. It lasts for ages- I buy 100ml bottles and have not bought one for six months. That's how long it lasts. It does refresh your face and leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. I always feel really clean after using it- like it really is cleaning and soothing my pores deep down.
I think this product is best used as part of a wash, toner and moisturiser routine. The great thing is that this moisturiser is ideal for those with excess oil production. Many products claim that they work for this type of skin, but in my experience they do not. This really does work for me. As I mentioned previously this helped clear up my acne prone skin. I no longer have acne and again whether this is due to the dermalogica or I have outgrown it I am not sure. However, if you are prone to blemishes or produce excess oil then maybe this is the product for you.
Dermalogica is really expensive, but on the other hand you get more for your money when you buy the bigger bottles and they last so so long. So although it's an expense to begin you won't have to buy face products for ages and if they run out at different times you might not have to fork out for the whole lot at once.
You can also pick these up for better prices if you shop online. Don't buy the first lot you see. Have a look cos prices do vary and sometimes they have special offers on. Another thing to bear in mind is that dermalogica sell small travel version size kits with all of the suitable products for different skin types. If you are worried about spending the money and it not working for you, you could always buy one of these smaller kits- which will still last at least a month. This might give you the opportunity to test the products and find the right ones for you.
The other thing you can do- although I have never done this is go to a salon where they free of charge (usually) will test your skin and tell you what skin type you have and therefore which products are best for you. You could then either buy them there or shop around to find the best deal.
Advantages: lovely smell, verry hyrdating and lightweight Disadvantages: have to use with other dermalogica products not so good on its own
dermalogica active moist is recommended for skin prone to oiliness and is a lightweight lotion which provides daily moisture protection to combat surface dehydration. It contains silk amino acids, and natural botanicals of lemon, cucumber and burdock with no artificial colour or fragrance. It comes in a slim white tube - i do hate pot moisturisers they seem so unhygienic so this was great in that respect and it really lasts for ages despite the steep ... ...your skin mapped by a dermalogica professional before purchasing to avoid all that trial and error when you start using a new regime. I would say this moisturiser is lovely, light and easily absorbed when used with a full regime of dermalogica cleansers and toners and scrubs. When I first bought this i used it along side my old cleansers and found it left my skin feeling a little sticky (eww) and shiny. However once I started using it after special ...

Advantages: Easily spreads into skin, Lasts a good length of time, lightweight feel. Disadvantages: Expensive, will not suit all skin types.
This moisturiser is wonderful. A small amount (about the size of a 5 pence piece) is all you need to cover the whole of your face and neck so despite it being quite expensive it lasts a good length of the time - you do not need to use huge quantities because of the high quality of the moisturiser. It spreads easily and leaves the skin feeling soft and silky without the greasy feeling that often accompanies some moisturisers. I am a strong believer ... ...of my favourites. It is however particularly suited to younger normal skin. Dry skin should probably have a moisturiser more suited to addressing that particular problem and my mum, who as well as being older also has more sensitive skin than myself found that although the moisturiser was good it was not as effective as her regular one. Therefore I recommend that you assess your own skincare requirements before buying. ...

Advantages: gentle yet effective in blemish removal and daily cleansing Disadvantages: strong lavendar smell
I was blessed with lovely skin throughout my teens only to be plagued by acne and sensitivity in my early 20's.. finally went to a salon and had my "skin mapped" by a dermalogica specialist and was given a prescription of products suitable for me:
i finally bought special cleansing gel, antioxidant hydramist, activemoist moisturiser, multivitamin thermofoliant, skin hydrating booster and will review each seperately. This review will be focusing on the special cleansing gel.
I bought a 500ml bottle costing £35, while this seems steep it actually works out cheaper in the long run as the cleanser should last you 8 months at least (mine has lasted almost 9 months and both myself and my 60 year old mother been using it twice a day). The ingredients are very concentrated so you need literally a pea size amount each wash.
The packaging is ...
Advantages: Natural Ingredients, Good Value for Money, Kind to Skin, Good Results Disadvantages: Quite Pricey, Hard to Find Apart from Online, Best Bought After Prescriptive Facial
have to find a beautician who can prescribe which Dermalogica product to buy - but perservere. It'll be worth it.
I paid around £18 for a 237ml bottle of Special Cleansing Gel, £30 for a 104ml tube of ActiveMoist and around £18 for 237ml of Active Toner.
The Skin Prep scrub comes in at around £19 for 74ml and the Skin Refining Mask is around £22 for 74ml.
These may sound expensive but they last for absolutely ages.
However should you wish to try before you buy without spending too much, Starter Kits are around £20 - for travel sized bottles. ...
Advantages: Only skin care product I've used that actually WORKS! Disadvantages: Price but you really get what you pay for!
strong enough to wipe away eye make up though.
Daily Microfoliant- Applied in the morning, work particularly on problem areas.
Helps to reduce blackheads and keeps the skin in good condition. Only dermalogica product I have used that doesn't smell lovely!
ActiveMoist- Applied morning and night
This is a fantastic moisturiser for people with combination skin. It moisturises 'normal' skin and doesn't leave greasy build up in oily areas! Actually helps to reduce oilyness!
Special Clearing Booster- Apply to a breakout can be used every 6 hours and should be applied under moisturiser
Only problem I have had with Dermalogica. Make sure you apply this using a cotton bud directly onto the spot. Do not spread over the area!!! I had a large breakout on my chin and spread this all over. It helped to clear up my spots but dried out the skin ...
