Dermalogica active moist is a moisturiser best used on skin with excess oil production. It is a light weight oil freelotion for daily us that combats dehydration. It is sheer, easy to apply and sinks in to the skin without a trace leaving it feelin really moisturised. It contains silk amino acids and plant extracts to help smooth skin and improve its texture. It also contains lemon, burdock and cucumber to help refine the skin.
Dermalogica say that you should apply this lotion twice a day after cleansing and toning and this should be done using upward strokes. They then say for best results this should be used after the facewash and multi active toner and moisturiser (please see my other reviews).
I use this product every day along with the toner and face wash. As a teenager having been prone to acne I was brought this as a present. I was a little disaponited with my gift but after trying it I was really pleased as my problemed skin cleared up quite quickly and I knew it was down to the dermalogica. Whether this was down to the face wash, toner or moisturiser (or the whole lot) I can not tell you.
The lotion is really easy to apply and comes in a tube. It is even light enough to wear under make up and I find that it is the perfect base for it. The smell is quite nice, but a bit non descriptive really- not horrible and not nice. It lasts for ages- I buy 100ml bottles and have not bought one for six months. That's how long it lasts. It does refresh your face and leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. I always feel really clean after using it- like it really is cleaning and soothing my pores deep down.
I think this product is best used as part of a wash, toner and moisturiser routine. The great thing is that this moisturiser is ideal for those with excess oil production. Many products claim that they work for this type of skin, but in my experience they do not. This really does work for me. As I mentioned previously this helped clear up my acne prone skin. I no longer have acne and again whether this is due to the dermalogica or I have outgrown it I am not sure. However, if you are prone to blemishes or produce excess oil then maybe this is the product for you.
Dermalogica is really expensive, but on the other hand you get more for your money when you buy the bigger bottles and they last so so long. So although it's an expense to begin you won't have to buy face products for ages and if they run out at different times you might not have to fork out for the whole lot at once.
You can also pick these up for better prices if you shop online. Don't buy the first lot you see. Have a look cos prices do vary and sometimes they have special offers on. Another thing to bear in mind is that dermalogica sell small travel version size kits with all of the suitable products for different skin types. If you are worried about spending the money and it not working for you, you could always buy one of these smaller kits- which will still last at least a month. This might give you the opportunity to test the products and find the right ones for you.
The other thing you can do- although I have never done this is go to a salon where they free of charge (usually) will test your skin and tell you what skin type you have and therefore which products are best for you. You could then either buy them there or shop around to find the best deal.

I've tried quite a few Dermalogica products, including this, but found them all completely ineffective (I even had a major allergic reaction to their eye make-up remover, which shocked my beauty therapy tutor as she said she's never known anyone to react to any Dermalogica product before!). It's nice to hear that they work for some people!. G. x
