Dermalogica anti-bac skin wash is best used on blemish prone skin. It is a foaming, antibacterial facewash which deeply cleanses the skin of excess oil and impurities with drying it. It contains Triclosan which helps remove bacteria and Salicylic Acid disolves dead skin cells- that last part makes it sound very harsh, but it is really not! It also conatins balm mint, coneflower and camphor to help smooth and purify the skin. It does not have any artificial fragrances or colour.
Dermalogica say that you should work the gel into a lather and apply to your dampened face and throat. You should then rinse with warm water and repeat for 'professional results'. They then say for best results this should be followed by the multi active toner and moisturiser (please see my other reviews).
I use this product every day along with the toner and moisturiser. As a teenager having been prone to acne I was brought this as a present. I was a little disaponited with my gift but after trying it I was really pleased as my problemed skin cleared up quite quickly and I knew it was down to the dermalogica. Whether this was down to the face wash, toner or moisturiser (or the whole lot) I can not tell you.
The face wash is really easy to use and even removes most make up. Mine comes in a really handy up right bottle that has a pump at the top and makes it easy to dispense. The smell is quite nice, but a bit non descriptive really- not horrible and not nice. It lasts for ages- I buy 500ml bottles and have not bought one in a year or so. That's how long it lasts. It does refresh you face and wakes you up and I always feel really clean after using it- like it really is cleaning my pores deep down.
I think this product is best used as part of a wash, toner and moisturiser routine. The great thing is that this toner is ideal for belmish prone skin. Many products claim that they work for this type of skin, but in my experience they do not. This really does work for me. As I mentioned previously this helped clear up my acne prone skin. I no longer have acne and again whether this is due to the dermalogica or I have outgrown it I am not sure. However, if you are prone to blemishes of any sort then maybe this is the product for you.
Dermalogica is really expensive, but on the other hand you get more for your money when you buy the bigger bottles and they last so so long. So although it's an expense to begin you won't have to buy face products for ages and if they run out at different times you might not have to fork out for the whole lot at once.
You can also pick these up for better prices if you shop online. Don't buy the first lot you see. Have a look cos prices do vary and sometimes they have special offers on. Another thing to bear in mind is that dermalogica sell small travel version size kits with all of the suitable products for different skin types. If you are worried about spending the money and it not working for you, you could always buy one of these smaller kits- which will still last at least a month. This might give you the opportunity to test the products and find the right ones for you.
The other thing you can do- although I have never done this is go to a salon where they free of charge (usually) will test your skin and tell you what skin type you have and therefore which products are best for you. You could then either buy them there or shop around to find the best deal.
Advantages: Does the job Disadvantages: Slightly on the pricey side
...therapists every year. Jane founded Dermalogica in 1986 and they ar efamous for shunning products that are the industry norm (cheap chemicals) like Mineral Oil, Lanolin, S.D. Alcohol, artificial fragrances and colors. They are known for keeping their packaging simple and sustainable. The Product This is a foaming and cleansing face wash that is designed to prevent future skin breakouts. It is an antibacterial face wash that cleanses the skin of impuirites ... ...(including delivery). The packaging of Dermalogica products is very plain and simple with no fuss. They have a flip bottle top, where you press it down one side and there is a small opening that you just squeeze the face wash out of. My opinion I have been using this product for well over a year and would NOT use anything else. I am far from a typical 'girly-girl' but I like a good face wash and cream. The downside to this product is without a doubt ...

Advantages: felt quite nice upon application Disadvantages: severely dries skin out (and has a very high price tag)
I owned this product a good couple of years ago when I had relatively bad skin and was prone to breakouts.
It was recommended to me by many people, and despite the high pricetag I assumed on the strength of the recommendations it would be worth it to clear up my skin.
Obviously, different face washes affect people's skin in different ways, but once I started using this face wash I found it gave me horrendously dry skin. Before using the face wash ... ...made my skin go completely the other way and I had quite severe dry patches on my forehead, and at the sides of my face (near the hairline by my ears).
I find this face wash very harsh on the skin, and although obviously a lot of people find it very effective I would just like to add a potential warning that it can severely dehydrate your skin.
I stopped using this face wash after about 2 months and switched to a much gentler wash which benefited ...

Advantages: Great formula that really does improve skin Disadvantages: Relatively expensive
A friend recommended Dermalogica Anti Bac Skin Wash to me a couple of years ago. I'm mid 30's but have skin that is prone to spot breakouts on a regular basis. I bought this stuff from my local beauty salon as its not available in stores and have been using it since. I tend to buy the biggest size available (500ml)with a pump dispenser and it lasts for a whole year. Its a fragrance free, clear gel that I use with water and it makes my skin feel really ... ...Its fairly expensive, but I've found a couple of websites that do it for less than salon prices and with a large bottle it lasts for ages. The main reason though is that it really works - my complexion has been much clearer since using it. I do still get ocassional spots but this product has certainly improved my skin significantly, and its a formula that I like and a brand that I trust - so its worth the expense to me ! ...

Advantages: none really Disadvantages: expensive, doesnt work
...a specialist, She recommended i used two products the antibacskinwash to prevent spots and the barrier repair moisturiser to help my skin reform against the negative affects that this countries cold winds have been having on me.
The products seemed expensive as i paid £8.10 for a travel size antibacskinwash (thank god i didnt pay more for a bigger size) and £22 for the barrier repair, but this didnt bother me as i felt it would be money well spent if my complexion improved and so i therefore new there was something i could use on a regular basis that would not aggrevate my skin. I didnt exactly expect for every blemish to dissapear as soon as i opened the bottle but i dont think i was unreasonable in expecting that a product of that price would have a positive affect on my skin.
However since applying the products i feel they have had...

Advantages: I've finally finished the bottle Disadvantages: Made skin worse
...I used this product for 18 months, alongside a few of the other products in the Dermalogica range recommended for acne-prone skin.
I have nothing good about it to say at all.
It smelled like toilet cleaner, my skin has been at it's worst whilst using it, and has dramatically inproved since moving back to my old favourite Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish, it wasn't pleasant to use, it wasn't cheap, and it didn't look particularly good in my bathroom.
I heard somewhere that the more stripping a product is, the worse it is for spotty skin, due to the skin overcompensating by making more and more oil, and after using this product I wholeheartedly agree with that. I found my skin would very quickly become oily after cleansing....
