Why I brought the product

My skin has recently been really suffering from the cold weather, harsh environment and central heating and I felt like nothing was really helping it. It was looking dull, tired and just overloaded. I had heard many good things about Dermalogica's Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask, especially in magazines - it was the product all the writers and celebrities raved about, I had always been curious. When I was talking to another Beauty Therapist who currently works with Dermalogica products at the salon she works at, I asked her about this product and she said although she wasn't too keen on other Dermalogica products as she didn't find them strong enough she used this one as her 'hangover cure' and loved it, it is one Dermalogica product she said she couldn't live without. Dermalogica MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque is an intensive masque of concentrated vitamins and botanical extracts to calm environmentally-stressed skin.

Firming Vitamin A increases elasticity and moisture content while antioxidant Vitamin C aids in collagen synthesis, restoring suppleness. Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 promote healthy tissue regeneration, while calming botanical extracts of Liquorice, Comfrey and Burdock soothe the skin. Vitamins A, C, E, F and Pro-Vitamin B5 help repair and restore skin to optimum fitness, the vitamins help your skin recover from damage that leads to skin aging while enhancing barrier properties. Vitamins C and E help protect your skin from the environment and from free radicals.

Beta Glucan soothes irritated skin and enhances moisture barrier properties. Nutrient-rich Algae Extract moisturizes and softens skin. Calming extracts of Liquorice, Comfrey and Burdock soothe skin and decrease sensitivity.

What the product looks like

The product comes in a dark grey dermalogica box and is a matt silver metallic tube. The tube comes safety sealed and needs piercing with the other side of the lid before use. In the box you also get an instruction leaflet. The products look professional, stylish yet basic, this is what Dermalogica pride themselves on, being basic.

Smell & Texture

When you squeeze the masque out the tube, it is thick, rich and creamy pale pink in colour. It has a slightly citrus fragrance, but this is from the natural ingedients the masque contains.

Effects on the skin

The masque goes onto your skin easily, and looks like a thick layer of night cream on your skin. As it is a rich and creamy masque it doesn't dry out and your skin absorbs as much of the moisture as it needs. When it is ready to remove it has turned a bright orange colour. When I looked in the mirror, I forgot I'd had the masque on and it looked as if I'd had a bad spray tan! As soon as I'd washed it off, my skin colour was back to normal and now I know to expect that there is no need to worry!

When you wash it off, it doesn't leave a sticky or oily residue on your skin as some other masques tend to.

The masque does not dry, irritate or make your skin feel tight, instead it feels soothing, moisturising and refreshing. It leaves your skin looking awake, revitalised and healthy. It really leaves it feeling moistursing and puts the life back into your skin. It leaves your skin with a really healthy glow, it looks radiant and healthy. Your skin is left feeling like babys' skin - soft and supple. I also find your skin feels firmer, toned and greatly improves the elasticity in your skin after several applications.

If your skin is feeling stressed and irritated this masque is really gentle to it and soothes and calms and reduces quite a bit of the irritation. It feels like you have a lovely soothing cold compress on your face. I get hot flushes all the time so I would really recommend this as a soothing treat for anyone else who suffers from them.

The masque works better over time, after several applications but you see dramatic differences after just one application. It is perfect to use before a big night out.

I also find it lovely to use a little bit on the lips, it is great for chapped, dry and cracked lips.

This product really does wonders for your skin, I would really recommend this product to anyone suffering from dull, tired, ageing skin. It just puts the life back into your skin.

Who it is suitable for

It can be used on all skin types but is recommended for dry, mature and sensitive skin types.

It is particularly good for sensitive skin due to its calming and soothing extracts and it being fragrance free and also free from artifical colouring. I suffer from ecezma and it did not irritate my skin at all, instead it soothed it.

Due to the masques contents of essential oils it is not recommended that you use while pregnant or breast feeding.

The masque should be used if your skin is feeling dull, dry, dehydrated, lacking luster, photodamaged or to help protect against skin ageing or soothe irritation.

Directions for use

Apply generously to cleansed face and throat, avoiding the eye area, using fingertips. After 10-15 minutes, gently, yet thoroughly rinse with warm water. I find this quite difficult sometimes as the product is really thick.

For maximum results, apply once per week or whenever the skin requires a soothing remedy. For a more intense treatment and results the masque can be slept in, but bare in mind put an old towel on your pillow to prevent staining!

I brought this masque from www.lookfantastic.com for £21.59 for a 75ml tube and paid £2.50 postage and packaging and it was delivered quickly within 2 days or ordering. The masque can also be brought at a Dermalogica salon, but would cost more in the price range of £25-30. This product is guarenteed when professionally recommended by a Dermalogica Therapist.
