Too old for Spots!!!
Advantages: Clearer skin, immediate difference, quality products Disadvantages: Costly items, possibly hard to find
...hormonal thing. She recommended the Dermalogica range to me. She ran through which items I should use, now I was a bit taken aback when I realised that a full size cleanser was £18, let alone adding on toner, moisturiser and spot cream!!!! She reasured me that each bottle would last around 9 months, but if I wanted something cheaper, to go with the Kit, which had miniature bottles of each product in it and cost £19.00 altogether. They have a massive range, and it really is worth speaking to your salon about any skin problems as they will recommend the correct products for you to use, they have everything under the sun, from dry skin to greasy, from firming to skin protection.
I'll start the review from right at the start. I came off the contraceptive pill 10 months ago. Then WHAM, two months later, I started to get spots, I'd never suffered from them before, even as a teenager, so I was mortified. I made sure I washed my face every night, but they just kept getting worse and worse. Until my face resembled that of little angry red volcanoes!!!!
To overcome this, I bought the usual teenage spot products, stuck to a cleansing regime, and it still made no difference. I then took to making sure I didn;t wear any face make-up, which as any girl knows can be a real self concious problem when you have spots. And as I work with the public every day, I felt even more in the SPOT light ( no pun intended) I bought myself some more expensive cleansing products, Virgin Vie, which I have always used in the past before the spots, and its always been great. But even this wasn't helping.
Then 3 months ago, I fell pregnant, and the spots got worse, even to the point I was getting them on my chest and back, and sometimes they were so painful. But by now I was convincing myself it was just the pregnancy hormones, and that it would settle down, but 2 months later, no difference. Even my customers mentioned how I looked, not so bluntly, but that classic ' you don't look very well, you look ever so tired, etc etc'.
I woke up one morning, stared at my fetching face in the mirror, and thought, I have to do something about this, by now I had tried everything. No make up, drinking plenty of water, vitamins, every spot cream under the sun, sometimes even just a wash with water and nothing else. But nothing helped. It made me realise how down it must make teenagers feel, as they're at the age when they take everything to heart, and of course everyone wants perfect skin.
I went into my local beauty Salon one morning and begged her for a miracle, she firstly asked if there was any reason my skin was like that, and I said it could be a hormonal thing. I was told this should last around 3 months. I decided to go ahead and buy it.
Getting my little kit home, I opened it. It contains:
Dermal Clay Cleanser - 50ml Multi Active Toner - 59ml Oil Control Lotion - 22ml Medicated Clearing Gel - 10ml two sample sachets - anti-bac cooling masque and gentle cream exfoliant.
Dermal Clay Cleanser:
Use this first, it's a wet wash, clay substance. It's no good for eye use, so no good for make up removal, but I use a seperate product for getting rid of my eye makeup. You only need a little bit of this, and it makes your skin go cold, but feels so refreshed and clean after.
Multi Active Toner:
This is in a spray bottle, and again is a light refreshing product that you just spritz onto your face.
Oil Control Lotion:
This is a light moisturiser, doesn't feel at all greasy, and afterwards the overall effect of using the 3 products is wonderful, my skin just felt so clean, I can;t even explain what I mean by that.
Medicated Clearing Gel:
You use this at night, and just out a tiny amount on your spots, this is to help calm them down and dry them out.
Now I'm a very sceptical person when it comes to sales, as places will say anything for you to buy their products, but boy oh boy was the Salon right. This stuff is like magic, it really does work. I have been using it for a week, and yes I do still have spots, but they are so faded and nearly gone that I am over the moon. I think another week and it'll be great. I will definately be buying the full size bottles next as when you split the cost over the 9 months it'll last, the cost is very reasonable.
My Kit cost me £19.00, but I am sure different salons charge different prices. You can find your local stockist by logging on to the dermalogica website and typing in your postcode. They have a massive range, and it really is worth speaking to your salon about any skin problems as they will recommend the correct products for you to use, they have everything under the sun, from dry skin to greasy, from firming to skin protection.

I came across Dermalogica through a friend and seen this brand sold in salons, promoting facials. My skin started to break out with loads of spots just after Christmas and my current products by clinique was not working for me.
My friend said Dermalogica is good even though she hasn’t used it. I seen products raved in magazine. So I thought give it a chance. I also did research I was about to buy Kanebo skincare products which has an ... ...correctly.

Quick review of Dermalogica Skin Kit: Acne Prone
These little kits are a great start to the wide rage of dermalogica. i started off with one of these to get me going as they are very cheap for what you get, they retail at around £20 and you get a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and a product to target and improve your skin type and they last longer than you think as a little goes a long way with this product ...

I have had on and off bad skin for the past 10 years i would say.
I have practically used every single cleanser and bacterial wash ever, even prescription creams but nothing has ever worked, untill my sister brought this.
My sister raved how in one night it cleared her skin of spots and any blemish, so i went online and ordered my self the AcneproneDermalogica travel kit, which included one of the products being the Medicated clearing gel.
You apply it at night once you have washed and cleansed your face and leave it on till morning and then wash it off.
It smelt fairly OK and did make my face feel kind of tight but i kept it on all night and washed off in morning.....
My skin felt fresh and most of my spots had gone, i did notice that my dkin felt dry after an hour or too so had to moisturise but it was alot clearer of spots ...
Advantages: Clears spots, reduces oil, easy to use, can obtain samples, lasts ages! Disadvantages: SO EXPENSIVE!
don't think I can afford to spend this much, especially if it doesn't work this well in the future. I could just be lucky this week! A possibility is the acneproneskinkit, which costs under £15, and contains this amongst other spot fighting dermalogica products. I think I will give it a go if my skin is still this clear in a week or so after I have used up all my samples! Thanks for reading this I hope it was useful! ...
