I came across Dermalogica through a friend and seen this brand sold in salons, promoting facials.
My skin started to break out with loads of spots just after Christmas and my current products by clinique was not working for me.
My friend said Dermalogica is good even though she hasn’t used it. I seen products raved in magazine. So I thought give it a chance. I also did research I was about to buy Kanebo skincare products which has an exact same system to Dermalogica, with the milky soap, and sponge chief. I do not know who copied who. Kanebo would have cost me too much if full size was £50 a bottle.
I brought the skin kit, as I had no idea where to start and what product goes together with what it’s a bit confusing when you research about it.
I highly recommend you see the skin therapist in the salon to help prescribe you with the right kit. As I was about to buy the wrong one for my skin type online, and they would be able to advise you on how to use the products correctly.

*** Price and Where to buy*** Most likely to be found in salons and some pharmacies, and the Internet. I paid £19.50 at a salon in barnet. Individual full size price Special Cleansing Gel 250ml £16.25 Multi-Active Toner 250ml £16.20 Skin Prep Scrub 75ml £16.25 Active Moist £26.40
*** Packing *** Very modern and simple packing, any products with outer box packing comes in a grey with the company name in white. But as mine is the skin kit, it is in a sealable travel bag. The bottles are the same format of a white with a dark grey for the company name and product name. The moisturizer and scrub comes in a tube.
*** Directions of use *** This is what I got in the Normal/oily skin kit.
The following information was obtained from the official site
Normal/oily skin kit
Cleanse with Special Cleansing Gel to thoroughly remove impurities without disturbing the skin's natural moisture balance. Spritz on critical hydration with Multi-Active Toner, with Balm Mint and Aloe to soothe the skin. Skin Prep Scrub removes dulling debris, leaving skin with a smooth healthy finish. Active Moist offers lightweight oil-free hydration to actively combat surface dehydration. Fragrance free. Professional recommendation advised. How it works
Ask directed by the skin therapist, I can chose to use the skin prep first but she recommended using once or twice a week.
This is the routine with the scrub; I usually don’t use the scrub that often.
Squeeze some of the scrub on to you fingers, its very moist and don’t really have a smell, and put it on your face. I found I have to squeeze quite a bit, as it doesn’t spread much.
Rinse it off, keeping a damp face squeeze some of the cleanser on to your hand and lather it up using both hands. This creates nice foam and put it all over your face. The cleanser smells very nice and is a clear liquid gel. Rinse and pat your face dry, you will find the texture of the skin very soft. Spitz in the toner all over the face, you can defiantly smell the mint in this. This itself leaves the skin moisturized, I usually find myself patting the face, as spit zing don’t cover the whole face. The toner is very light like water, and will not effect your eyes if you accidentally spray it in there. Then you take the active moist, this looks creamy white and is very runny so be warned when you squeeze from the tube, otherwise it will drip on the floor. Put it all over your face and your done.
*** My verdict *** Dermalogica will defiantly be a repeated purchase, cleanser and toner moistens the face. However the moisturizer is a bit sticky and I find I have some dry patches left on my face. The skin kit smells very nice and refreshing. I find it weird not to use a cotton wall for the toner but spit zing does the trick. The skin kit is very effective and leaves skin feeling very soft my problem skin area seems to be clearing up. The product range is very light and don’t leave skin greasy. Its last long, with minimum usage, this would be my alternative to clinique when I need a change, if my face gets too used to one range. My skin feels very soft, but I do find it weird that I have some dry patches on my face.
--- Individual ratings --- Skin Prep Scrub Although it says to massage into your face and rinse straight away, I found it more effective if you left it on for 5 mins then rinse. ****
Special Cleansing Gel Top cleanser cleans dirt and grime, easy to foam and leaves face soft. *****
