The Dermalogica skin care range consists of far more products than I could ever write about in one opionion, therefore, in this opinion I'll tell you a bit about those products I have tried, and a little bit about what other products are available...

Firstly a bit about Dermalogica itself...
Dermalogica is an American company, based in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1986 by Jane and Raymond Wurwand, who also founded The International Dermal Institute. Today, all Dermalogica products are researched and developed by The International Dermal Institute.

With regards to their products, Dermalogica state:
"Using only the finest ingredients available, all products are non-comedogenic and contain no occlusive mineral oil or lanolin, no irritating artificial colors or fragrance, and no drying S.D. alcohol or formaldehyde. Developed with the environment in mind, we also ensure that all ingredients are from eco-safe sources and are packaged in recyclable containers. Always cruelty-free, we do not test on animals".

Dermalogica Products are only available from specialist skin care therapists that are registered with the Dermalogica company, however there are many registered salons throughout the UK. Products can only be purchased under the advice of a trained skin care therapist. All good skin care therapists will hoewver have a selection of samples that they match to your needs and allow you try before you buy. Many salons also use the Dermalogica products during beauty treatments such as facials, which again gives you the opportunity to try the products. Unlike many companies in the skin care market Dermalogica doesn't advertise, preferring to gain awareness through word-of-mouth.

My Favourite Three...
=====================
The following are the three products that I use at home. I haven't actually purchased any of these products, instead I was fortunate enough to be given a handful of samples the last time I had a facial!

ANTI-BAC SKIN WASH - with skin response complex
The anti-bac skin wash is a clear gel that helps to rid the skin of excess oil and other impurities. The product is self-foaming - to use it all you have to do is work the gel into a lather in your hands and apply it to your face and neck, then rinse with warm water. Although this product does have a slight scent it is very mild and doesn't have that medicinal smell that some anti-bac products have.
This face wash is extremely good for those with spot-prone skin. In my experience it has helped to reduce any blemishes on my skin, and has helped to reduce further breakouts.

SKIN REFINING MASQUE
This product is a white thick cream with a faintly sweet scent. It is a skin clarifying masqu which absorbs oil, removes impurities and helps to refine the skins surface. It's extremely simple to use as you just apply the masque in a thin layer over cleansed skin and rinse off with warm water after 10 minutes.
This product is great at freshening up your skin - I've found that it really makes my face feel much softer and fresher after I have used it. It's also great at reducing oily-skin breakouts.

GENTLE CREAM EXFOLIANT
This product is a white cream. Although it is fragrance free, it does have a fairly sweet scent, presumably from the plant extracts it contains. You use this product in a similar manner to a masque, in that you smooth it over your face and throat, leave for 15 minutes and rinse off.
As with the masque, this is great for giving your skin a boost. I have found that while using this product I get a mild tingling sensation on my face, however the packaging warns that 'mild stinging may be experienced', and it's not an uncomforatble sensation.Other products available:
=========================
There are far too many products to mention them all individually, however, Dermalogica produce a variety of:
  • Cleansers
  • Conditioners
  • Moisturisers
  • Masques
  • Concentrated Boosters
  • Solar defense products
  • Spa Body Therapy
  • Foundations
    ...as well as others. Within each category are a variety of products to match different skin types.
    If you want more information on the different products available in each range I would suggest you contact a Skin Care Therapist at a salon near you, or take a look at the Dermalogica website at www.dermalogica.com.

To conclude:
I have used Dermalogica products for over a year now, both in terms of their use at the salon when I have been for a facial, and in terms of the samples I have used at home. I have been more than satisfied with the results of using the products. The down-side to these products is that they are much more expensive than high-street brands, however they are not really overpriced. Most products appear to be in the £8.00 - £25.00 range. After my most recent selection of samples, I am determined to purchase the anti-bac skin wash and will be adding a few other products in the range to my birthday wish list!!!
