Dermalogica is a 'prescription' skincare range, and can be tailored to your own individual skincare needs.
To achieve this, I was offered a free face map. The face mapping is vital, so that your skin type can be determined. For me, this was basically sitting under a lamp like the ones at the dentists, while the beautician asks questions about my skin type, and also looks at what blemishes etc are on my skin.
I was also under no obligation to buy anything after the face mapping, if anything, it was the opposite, and I was given lots of samples to try.
This cleanser was recommended to me as part of my skincare routine, so I decided to give it a go, after reading so many really good reviews of dermalogica products.
This retails for around £18 from salons. It's not available in stores, due to the nature of the product, although it is available online. It is recommended that you consult a professional first, as being honest, I wouldn't have chosen the same products as my beautician. It does last a long time though, I've been told around 6 - 7 months is usual, as you don't use a lot at a time, so it works out cheap enough long term.
This is a soap free gel, which claims to cleanse skin, without upsetting skins natural moisture levels. Especially for combination skin, it's easy to use the wrong product and either have drier skin, or oily patches where the skin has worked overtime to rectify what it sees as under moisturized skin. It contains balm mint and lavender to soothe and Quilaja Saponaria to get rid of toxins and debris. This is also fragrance free.
Despite being fragrance free, the smell hit me instantly. It's quite overpowering, and slightly chemical, but it didn't put me off trying this.
The gel itself is clear, and to use, you dampen face, wet your hands and lather up a small amount in your hand. This foams instantly, with a rich creamy lather, and a little goes a very long way. I first used about a 5p's worth, and this was too much.
After cleansing, my face felt very clean. As I was washing it, I could feel the gel working, and once I rinsed my face it was apparent. My face was radiant, usually only achieved through face masks, and lacked the usual tightness that I get after using foaming cleansers. Even before I put on my moisturiser, I could feel my skin soft, and it looked instantly clearer.
This cleanser is suitable for normal to combination skin. I have combination skin, with dry patches on my cheeks and nose, and the rest is oily, and this worked wonders for me.
