Dermalogica Treatment Foundation is the first foundation I have ever truely been happy with. I have tried many, many different brands and types of foundation over the years, but each has had its flaws; whether too light, too heavy, too drying or an unsuitable colour range.
Dermalogica begins its blurb on the package by saying "Skin care disguised as make-up?" and that's exactly what it is. This is what makes the difference ... ...more than you would believe. Dermalogica as a company does not use artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, S.D. alcohol, lanolin or mineral oil which can adversely affect you skin. This foundation contains antioxidant vitamins A and E and natural humectants to avoid dryness and protect against environmental factors. The pigements are natural, and chemical free sun protection (titanium) can only further protect the skin.

Dermalogica begins its blurb on the package by saying "Skin care disguised as make-up?" and that's exactly what it is. This is what makes the difference to my skin, and quite possibly will for yours too.
So, firstly, what is the coverage like? The coverage from this foundation is a flawless medium cover, which can be applied lightly using a dampened cosmetic sponge, or slightly heavier using warm finger-tips. Once a light base layer has been applied by either method, you have the option to sweep lightly over problem areas again for a denser finish, and also to dab a small quantity on specific areas such as spots. The latter negates the need for a concealer, as the ability of the product to be layered creates the same result. In turn, this ensures no blending is required, and an even colour is found over your entire facial area. A matt finish ensures that no drying powder is needed over the top, and the finish will last all day.
As you can see from the picture above, the tube has a small opening for the foundation to be squeezed from, ensuring control over the amount dispensed and reducing any wastage. The pigment is effective in small quantities, and as such, this makes for great economic use of the product.
The foundation comes in a number of shades, with #1 being the lighest. You will notice that some have a 'G' after the number, which denotes a goldish undertone to the pigment. This alone inspired me to purchase the product, having a yellow undertone to my skin, which a lot of cosmetic companies do not allow for. So many times, a foundation looks very pink or orange on my skin, deflecting from the intention of a natural look.
Speaking of natural, not only does this foundation provide you with the very desirable no-makeup look, it also contains some wonderful natural ingredients which benefit your skin more than you would believe. Dermalogica as a company does not use artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, S.D. alcohol, lanolin or mineral oil which can adversely affect you skin. 2 hypoallergenic cosmetic sponges are included with each foundation to help you get smooth, long-lasting cover. I find this foundation to last for several hours, and due to being oil-free, no nasty shine or residue appears during the day.
My particular skin is very dry and easily irritated, especially from makeup. Dermalogica foundation does not aggrevate my skin, nor does it cake up or dry my skin out over the course of the day. I especially like the layering ability of the product to ensure cover for some problematic spots that need hiding away.
Visit a Dermalogica Skin Therapist to try out the product and have the right colour matched to your skin. Then purchase from your skin therpapist, or look online for some heavily doscounted rates.
Advantages: Good coverage, improves skin condition, natural healthy look Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...she had just started stocking dermalogica and told me about this foundation. At this point, I was around six months pregnant. She was selling it for around £22 which, being a bit of a cheapo, thought was an extortionate amount. So I searched on eBay and bought some for a slightly cheaper £18 (although, this still made me feel very guilty!!!!).
So the product arrived. Now this is classed as a treatment foundation and claims to protect the skin from ... ...be honest I found it easier to apply with my fingers and also find that I use less doing it this way.
I wasn't too sure how the foundation could treat my skin but if it provided good coverage then I was happy.
Immediately after applying very little foundation, I fell in love. It provided excellent coverage, blended perfectly with my skin and after six months of looking ill, it gave me a really nice glowing complexion.
I applied the rest of the ...
