Great little PC
Review of Shuttle XPC G2 6100H - P4 3 GHz by whopper73

Advantages: Small, great heatsink!, Firewire built it!
Disadvantages: The size limits the lack of drive space

I have very little space for a PC in my study area (i.e. hole under the stairs!) and I hate clutter anyway so I wanted a PC I could stick in a cupbaord but still leave space for all my other compurter perifferals. This fitted the bill. It is the easy self build PC really as the it comes as a case with the mother board fitted (the hard part of a self build really I guess). I needed a CD/ DVD drive, a hard drive, processor and some RAM. This takes ...
...are different versions for other processors). I put a 3G P4 in mine and was glad to see it does support the hyper threading technology, which allows for faster multitasking. Wether it does 2 tasks at once or does some fancy concurrent tasking management I'm not sure, but it processes things very fast from my point of view! When putting it together I was amazed by the heatsink cooling system, it is genius and necessary for something this small. It ... Read review

Shuttle XPCs are the way forward
Review of Shuttle XPC P 8100G - P4 3.4 GHz by timboid

Advantages: Compact, powerful, fairly quiet, stylish
Disadvantages: Quality Control needs improving

...this sort of PC, but Shuttle were one of the pioneers and have possibily been doing it the longest, deservedly winning many awards for their sleek designs and well-integrated technical components. For me, Shuttle was the brand to go with at the outset. ::: Size vs Cooling ::: Measuring a mere 210mm x 220mm x 340mm (height x width x length), it is hard to imagine how so much computing grunt can be squeezed into such a small space. Most PCs you ...
...will run. This particular Shuttle manages to keep cool inside without needing large pockets of air by dividing heat dissipation into 3 areas: a right-to-left air draft to cool the CPU, 2 small rear fans to push out hot air generated by the hard disk and DVD drive, and a larger rear fan to draw out heat from the video card and motherboard chipset. Ok, so there are still 5 fans in this mini PC but 3 of them are large ones that rotate more slowly, ... Read review

Powerhouse, budget gamer's dream!
Review of Dell XPS 420 by BoyEngland

Advantages: Can play the latest games, fast boot-up, reliable, runs cool, runs quietly
Disadvantages: Price is a little steep, not all games are compatible with Quad Core processors

...built XPS 420 directly from Dell which contains a 2.40GHz Quad Core processor, 4GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 9800GT, and all the other good stuff a computer needs. I ordered it late night on a Sunday, and I had it setup and working by the Thursday. Best of all? Shipping was free! Between pressing the power button and the computer being ready to use, you are looking at around 30 seconds. This includes me entering my password to log on. I see this as ...
...hadn't been for the current Dell offer and a discount code I had at the time. I will admit, I wouldn't have paid £920 for the system, no chance! Since starting the computer for the first time, I haven't had a single problem with it that wasn't caused by a faulty disk or my lack of patience. I would recommend it to anyone, even gamers. ...
