Compaq sr1819uk
Review of Compaq Presario SR1819UK - Sempron 3000+ 1.8 GHz by com235

Advantages: Light Weight, Fast Processor, Quite
Disadvantages: Bigger than average

...Card Bay loose cable and compaq were so helpful and were able to sort the problem out in no time at all. I upgraded the RAM in the computer through compaq that cost be 25 pounds. I upgraded it from the 512 to 1gb I am pleased that I did this and I think with the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system it makes this computer perfect. When I first brought this computer I paid £200.00 from currys. And from doing research I have found that this is ... Read review

Good starter PC or for upgrading
Review of Acer Aspire T120E - Sempron 2800+ 2 GHz by Danny.B

Advantages: Inexpensive, stylish looks, easily upgradeable
Disadvantages: Rubbish speakers, could have more RAM

...and word processing on the Acer machine. Not long after I got it, I did upgrade the RAM, but that's easy and cheap to put another 1GB in yourself from eBay, only costs around £40. I also upgraded the video card for around £100, but then you've got a good processor, high enough RAM to run Windows Vista and good games and also a good graphics card to be able to play games at higher resolutions, but still the computer and the upgrades is a lot less ...
...good brand and have been getting better over the years and they do built inexpensive, but good quality machines. My Aspire T120e did me very good for a number of years and is still going strong with someone else. The only bad point is the rubbish speakers (although nicely powered by USB so no need for an extra power socket) mine never worked out of the box, but I wouldn't use them anyway cos they don't have much power. I bought the Packard Bell ... Read review

Acer Aspire T135-5T970
Review of Acer Aspire T135-5T970 - Sempron 3100+ 1.8 GHz by tomcollingwood

Advantages: Cheap, Powerful Budget Computer
Disadvantages: Hard Drive can be a bit noisy

...value for the price. Acer have made it very easy to overclock the CPU and RAM speeds via the BIOS, and my computer easily handles an increase from the 200Mhz sidebus up to 225Mhz, which brought the CPU speed up to 2.0Ghz without any increase in temperature or instability. However i would reccomend further cooling and a bigger power supply just to be safe if you want to take it further than this. The only downside to this PC (and i'm not sure if ...
...that the Hard Disk is very noisy at times. It really is quite noisy, especially when scanning or transferring files, and seeing as my pc only has 256mb of ram it uses the hard disk more. However, it is easy to drown out the sound of the HD, i just put the tower in a cupboard and i put music on whilst i'm using the pc. The onboard Realtek AC97 audio controller is very good; what many people don't realise is that you can configure the 3 ports to incorporate ... Read review

Acer Power M5
Review of Acer AcerPower M5 - Sempron 3000+ by natman859

Advantages: Reliable, Expandable
Disadvantages: Long wait for Technician

The Acer power M5 is a very reliable computer, offers expandability and also has the acer empowering software which allows you to create restore cd's and optimize your pc. After a few months however the hard drive did fail but i had no problems at all with the customer services and in two days a technician arrived, fitted a new larger hard drive and got me up and running again. Overall i have had a good experience with this computer and i find it ... Read review
