A "Must Have" Tool for the Creative Designer...
Review of Apple Power Mac G5 - PPC G5 1.8 GHz by
agazad
Advantages: Everything! Silent, Super Fast, Stunning Design...
Disadvantages: Might be hard to steal - they are rather heavy!
...The new PowerPC G5 from Apple is by far the most superior and valuable tool for anyone within the new media industries. We have two design studios, comprising 8-12 of these beautiful machines, primarily set up as 'top of the range', 'high powered', video editing suites, with twin 30" Apple cinema displays (these are also stunning, and a must have for anyone who takes video editing seriously). I have had experience with video editing on a middle of ... ...beauty of the higher powered Apple Macs is their ability to process quickly, high amounts or volumes of audio or video. And the beauty of that; the Mac is the new hub for any recording studio… it can replace, and make obsolete, most of the kit normally found in modern recording studios! A broadcast quality recording can now be done on one of Apple’s PowerBooks (with suitable recording system i.e. Pro Tools) on location – it is truly portable and ...

Review of Apple iMac Core Duo 2 GHz - 20" TFT by
kieranc
Advantages: Look nice, Software is reliable, Work without any hassle
Disadvantages: Twice the cost of a windows computer
Apple have always designed nice kit but the price will keep them out of reach for most. Having had many windows computers before the mac, i was very used to the layout of windows and how to force it to work when it didnt want to. The best way i can describe a mac is that it just plain works, very little to no hassle. worth the extra money.
I purchased a mac after saving up and the first thing that you notice is how well equipped they are. Built ... ...of these on a windows pc
Webcam - very good quality, you would need to spend £50 to get the same quality camera for you windows pc
Bluetooth - software built into the OSX, easily download photos, add music to your phone, you dont have to install anything
Wireless - Normally not included in a desktop computer, built into the mac as standard.
Firewire - Again not normally included in a desktop, If it is included then all you get is windows movie ...

Apple refines the desktop pc again
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 2 GHz - 20" TFT by
firefly1240
Advantages: All in one - slim design - apple osx and ilife etc
Disadvantages: expandability
...You get all the great apple software, tiger, ilife etc. All the ports are easily acessable. If you get the bluetooth option and keyboard and mouse you have hardly any cables at all. (please not the bluetooth mouse does go through batteries though!).
This is just so easy to setup and use. This is how computing should be. I was up and running and on line in about 15mins from getting it out of the box. The setup for Tiger is so easy and you can transfer ... ...I got mine from the apple store (www.apple.com/uk/store) and excellent service and would throughly recommend. Build time longer if you want to customise your iMac.
The only downside like all previous iMacs is expandiblity although you can easily upgrade the harddrive and the Superdrive if you want to. A wonderful Mac. Don't be put off with Apple changing to Intel processors - Apple is fantastic at legacy/backward support. Unlike Wintel machines ...

The Apple iMac - What an amazing machine
Review of Apple iMac Core Duo 2 GHz - 20" TFT by
scottgintheuk
Advantages: Easy to use, brilliant software, does not crash and no viruses!
Disadvantages: None
It was about a year ago when I got fed up with my Window's PC, and gave it away. I was fed up with the viruses, trojans etc and the thing crashing all the time - fed up with troubleshooting/uninstalling and reinstalling software.. What a waste of time.
I was a subscriber of a few podcasts, many people on the podcasts were praising the Mac for its ease of use, lack of viruses and an 'overall enjoyment' amongst many other things.
I then decided to ... ...looked back. The software is amazing, compliments to all the Mac developers out there. Software designed for the Mac is not only beautiful, but very easy to use - you don't have to spend hours browsing through manuals. Don't think that there is a shortage of software and don't say 'Oh, if I get a Mac then I won't be able to..... ' - because there is a lot of software around for the Mac which will do just about anything.
The iMac is a beautiful machine ...

Apple Power Mac G5 Dual
Review of Apple Power Mac G5 Dual - PPC G5 2.3 GHz by
wowee
Advantages: Stylish and really great
Disadvantages: hardly any
Its been an interesting 9months for me, a more than 10 year PC user now in the MAC Zone! Yes, I purchased a MAC!! Over the past year other PC user friends of mine have been telling me that, never mind the G5's fast performance, the OS or what's called OSX is the jewel that this article failed to mention! My official feeling is now don't even hesitate to buy the G5, but for me its not because of the blistering performance it's because of the OS that's ... ...amazing! I'm running all my windows versions from my past machines all at the same time. With the OSX Unix solidness, and many features you can hardly imagine, XP on my old Dell looks dated by at least 12 years! I'm backing up my XP Compaq Presario 2160 to the G5 and the backup will even boot on the G5. Anyway, keep your XP laptop, and your Win95/Dos for the old reliable PC serial communication, but let your new OSX machine do all the internet and ...
