Compaq d500 pentium 4 1.6ghz PC
Review of Compaq Evo D500 - P4 1.6 GHz by
Bonzo45
Advantages: Small, Powerful, easy to use
Disadvantages: For more proffesional use it would need upgrading.
The compaq Evo D500 p4 1.6ghz is a good pc in many ways 1)The graphics card has a 3d hardware accelerator so you can play basic 3d games. This isn't integrated so that means that you can take it out and put in a new one I did exactly that and that turned it into a gaming machine. 2) It has 256 mb of Ram in one slot and there are three so again lots of room for upgrading but unless you want' to do a high powered process like video editing 256 is plenty ... ...has a 20gb Hard drive this is good because it means that the pc can stay small as this isn't a very big hard drive and if you are thinking of buying it do not be put off by this as you can get an external hard drive these days for about £60.
I gave this pc 4 stars because it is very practicle as it is small yet powerful and with 2 pci slots you could add things like usb 2.0 or firewire.
Great overall computer and i would reccomend to anyone no ...

Compaq's are very reliable.
Review of Compaq Deskpro EN Space Saver - PIII 933 MHz by
Snowman99
Advantages: Good Solid reliable computer
Disadvantages: Fiddly to upgrade the memory or hard drive.
...peole. Mostly, I have had Compaq computers donated to me for this project and I can honestly say that they are about 99% reliable.
Of the over 300+ computers donated so far,270+ have been Deskpro EN series, and I have only had 3 callbacks for problems on the units.Normally a plug I hadn't pushed in properly. All the other have proved to be no problem at all.
I myself use a Deskpro EN at home, and it has worked flawlessly for over 1.5 years, and ... ...my house, and is the master for Internet connection sharing. Faultless in operation, I would not hesitate to recommend this marque to anybody looking for a reliable unit.
Any business looking for long term reliability, and a good strong workhorse should definately consider a Compaq Deskpro EN series computer. ...

The Compaq Evo D300v - a review
Review of Compaq Evo D300v - P4 1.6 GHz by
reMaster
Advantages: compact
Disadvantages: none as such
The Compaq Evo D300v is a future proof PC for any bigginer or an ideal gift for a relative seeking his/her first/second PC.
Its quite fast and is able to perform many tasks in a respectable amount of time. The 20GB Hard Disk isn't big but it's plenty of space if you just need a PC for general use, e.g. surfing the net and writing letters.
It's not a paritcaully powerfull PC and only comes with basic sound and graphics capabilities, but this is ... ...big advantages is, its compact, if you don't wan't it to dominate your desk then I surpose it's the PC for you!
As a Compaq PC you can expect high build qaulity and a PC that will last you, but you can often find better bargians with other companies. ...

Sleek computer with small footprint
Review of Compaq iPAQ Legacy-Light - PIII 733 MHz by
Uncle_Tippet
Advantages: Sleek, very light (10 lbs) machine. Customer Service good. Snap to install
Disadvantages: Few pre-installed applications. Only one drive bay. Caters to businesses
...I ended up with a Compaq IPAQ desktop. Although I'm very happy with my decision, it is not for everyone. Here's why: Quick Summary - Sleek desktop with small footprint more distinctive than the Compaq Presario home computer line. - Geared towards businesses where ease of deployment and maintainability and control is more important. - No pre-loaded software beyond Compaq's version of NT/Win2K or Win98 with Compaq Intelligent Manageability - Intel ... ...available. - 1 year COMPAQ on-site service standard (additional years available). - Multibay components (hard drive, CD-ROM, Zip Drive, LS-Superdisk drive, etc) can be swapped between IPAQ desktops and certain COMPAQ Armada notebooks. But only one Multibay slot available. - NO internal expansion slots available. The computer I bought the desktop direct from Compaq because they were offering the IPAQ running Win2000/NT4.0 with 128 meg RAM, Intel III ...

Dont buy Compaq
Review of Compaq Deskpro EP 6500 III - PIII 500 MHz by
busy
Advantages: Nice looking machines
Disadvantages: Too many faults
...faults have been recorded for Compaq machines. Even new machines have a tendency to freeze, reboot themselves etc. Support isn't bad but I do think that new machines shouldn't be giving the user any bother.
If you are going to buy a PC be sure to shop around - Make sure you don't buy one with everything 'on board'. This means everthing is attached to the mother board ie. Sound card, Network card etc therefore if anything goes wrong with your hardware ...
