The new computer
Review of Sony VAIO PCV-RS322 - P4 2.6 GHz by
sheelbe999
Advantages: Looks extremely sexy, quick and reliable with the right protection
Disadvantages: Comes with very little "worth having" software
My father bought this computer as a family computer. Since buying it we have run into a few problems with it. The screen developed a frozen pixle. (a pixle that only appears in one colour). Also the computer came with no anti adware/anti spyware software what so ever. After only a few months of having it, the machine had to be formatted(everything cleared off the hardrive) this caused me and my brother to loose work and we had to reload all of our ... ...can see a small flap at the bottom of the tower, when this is folded down there are lots and lots of different card slots, very useful when your family has 3 or four digital cameras. This is a great computer although with your money you are paying a lot for the fact its Sony. Don't make the same mistake as me, make sure that before you do anything on it, get as much anti spyware and anti adware on there as you can. I would recommend ad-aware and ...

A reliable piece of kit
Review of Sony VAIO PCV-RX203 - P4 2 GHz by
Mooers
Advantages: Looks fantastic and is very quiet
Disadvantages: speakers supplied aren't great
We purchased our Sony Vaio PCV- RX203 about 2 and a half years ago, but purchased a top of the range one. As a result it had much the same spec as the ones on sale now, eg, DVD-RW, 512MB RAM, 120GB hard disk, pentium 4 2GHz, and we paid about £1200 for it. The reason I am choosing to review it now is because I felt it would be useful to those of you out there looking to buy a PC, to know how reliable this PC has been. I am an IT consultant by trade, ... ...disks and other components fail on PC's supplied by other large brand names! The only thing to break on our PC, in 2 and a half years, is the speakers that were supplied with it, and as our PC gets used for at least 6 hours a day, gets software and hardware beta tested on it, and has been moved house in a van with no suspension, that's not bad going! The machine itself is very nice to look at, and runs very quietly compared to similar machines by ...

iMac beats PC for photo and video.
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 24" TFT by
Segedunum
Advantages: Brilliant screen, fast, runs Windows too
Disadvantages: Virtually none, but not good for DIY upgrades.
Introduction
I was walking through some wood on the Scottish Borders one day when we came across a cottage where we saw a Cavalier King Charles sitting on a chair in the sun, and a gentleman working on a computer. We got chatting about the dog (as we also have a Cavalier) and the conversation inevitable turn the his computer which happened to be an iMac 2.4GHz, 24" Core 2 Duo model being used for photography and graphics. The gentleman showed me ... ...me that I should give up my Windows PC and to switch to MAC for my main uses of photo and video. If I was really stuck, I was told that Mac could run any Windows programmes I needed on it.
My main intention was to leave the Windows PC for day to day use, and use the MAC PC for hobbies only - more of that later. However, a few weeks later, after looking at reviews and seeing the machine again, I took the plunge and bought the iMac - a decision I ...

ML350 *brilliant*
Review of HP ProLiant ML350 G5 Base - Dual-Core Xeon 5130 2 GHz by
boaler88
Advantages: Lots of storage great upgrade capacity.
Disadvantages: requires a professional to install correctly
HP ML350 are very very excellent servers.
these machines are very reliable and very fast, and widely used in many businesses across the UK
they tend to run best with Windows SBS loaded as the operating system.
with 5 hard drive bays you can have more than enough storage space for your company use. so you could have a maximum storage capacity of 5TB if you required it.
Dual intel Xeon capability.
Maximum RAM of 32GB if the G5 version of the ML350 ... ...a redundant Power supply into the server, it is a very good idea to purchase a redundant Power supply, this will keep your seerver Powered from a different wall socket if you primary Power supply should fail.
also with a onboard RAID controller allowing the user to setup redundancy on there data which comes in handy if the worst was to happen.
Problems with these server are very RARE.
absolute brilliant value for money and very Reliable, perfedt ...
