Well specified Windows XP machine for office use.
Review of Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO E5916 - Core 2 Duo E6300 by
MoltenJules
Advantages: Good configuration options, Windows XP, quiet and fast
Disadvantages: Looks are not going to win places on many desks
Earlier this year I bought five of these for a customer. It must be said that the money was not spent on visual styling. They are not the best looking machine but they are a good package in terms of performance and value if you shop around. They are very quiet and easy to configure. I had reservations about using Vista until SP1 had come out and since most of the customer's office used Windows XP I had to look around for a PC which came with Windows ... ...then have to buy an XP licence?
It was best to get around the rather basic and uninspiring design by standing the base unit under the desk on its edge rather like a slim tower. The PC was well specified with 1 GB of RAM and this worked very well with the chosen operating system, Windows XP. It also came with a DVD burner which offered good performance. In all a good performer for the office, quiet and reliable and easy to work on. I would recommend ...

scaleo T fujitsu siemens
Review of Fujitsu Siemens SCALEO T - P4 560 3.6 GHz by
Visionary101
Advantages: ease of use, all round good starter system,
Disadvantages: sometimes can be a bit slow if multitasking, front lights fail over time.
i've owned this computer for 3 years, when i bought it, it was high spec, it was to date the best computer i had used and still is too this day, which came with a huge (for the time) 250gb hard drive, 1 cdrw drive and 1 dvdrw drive plus a 5 - in 1 card reader, also it has 2usb ports at the front of the machine and an ieee 1394 input, also has inputs at the front for headphones and a microphone to go with the standard imports on the back, the soundcard ... ...to play my guitar directly through the computer, my only complaint was that there wasnt an audio in port at the front as well - it has plenty of software that comes as standard for a new user and overall is a great bargain, i beleive it sells for roughly £200 on ebay now. For a starter computer it is excellent, the fan can be a bit noisey at night but compared to my old win 98 system is really quiet, it is also a p4 3.6ghz which i beleive even 3 ...

AVOID this machine
Review of Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo Pa2666 by
dwmusic
Advantages: the retailer will take it back
Disadvantages: Fujitsu-Siemens
10p a minute for so-called 'free' technical support
contradictory advice given, depending upon whom one talks to
the machine instantly becomes unusable if you turn it off in the first 20 minutes of operation
no warning on the box that this will happen
no recovery or system disks provided with the computer
an exorbitant 36.50 Euros to buy the recovery disks with a 4 day standard waiting time for delivery
... ...to the website
the computer will not run Windows XP, the only known reliable version of Windows in current use
I was more than once by tech support told the computer will run XP when clearly it will not, because Fujitsu-Siemens make the hardware to run only on Vista
available drivers and firmware updates have no installation
Firewire drive hangs when folder containing audio files is "opened" and computer won't shut ...

iMac beats PC for photo and video.
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 24" TFT by
Segedunum
Advantages: Brilliant screen, fast, runs Windows too
Disadvantages: Virtually none, but not good for DIY upgrades.
Introduction
I was walking through some wood on the Scottish Borders one day when we came across a cottage where we saw a Cavalier King Charles sitting on a chair in the sun, and a gentleman working on a computer. We got chatting about the dog (as we also have a Cavalier) and the conversation inevitable turn the his computer which happened to be an iMac 2.4GHz, 24" Core 2 Duo model being used for photography and graphics. The gentleman showed me ... ...me that I should give up my Windows PC and to switch to MAC for my main uses of photo and video. If I was really stuck, I was told that Mac could run any Windows programmes I needed on it.
My main intention was to leave the Windows PC for day to day use, and use the MAC PC for hobbies only - more of that later. However, a few weeks later, after looking at reviews and seeing the machine again, I took the plunge and bought the iMac - a decision I ...
