Compaq SR2125UK
Review of Compaq Presario Media Center SR2125UK - Pentium D 915 2.8 GHz by
matt_nichols
Advantages: Very Upgradable, Cheaply Priced, Very Reliable.
Disadvantages: The nVidia 7500LE is by no means an efficent card, No front case fan.
I have found the Compaq SR2125UK a very powerful machine, I bought it as a secondary machine from PCWorld back in May 2007. When I first bought it I didn't realise it's full potential of what it's very upgradable motherboard can have. It's processor which comes shipped with it is an Intel Pentium D 915 which is around one of the first Dual Core processors around and is now starting to age a little, but this machine will happily take any Intel Core ... ...the way (before plugging the Compaq in) I had a look inside the case. What you get is a pretty cramped case with all the wires, but also there's 3 PCI slots and a PCIe x16 slot which has the nVidia 7500LE card in there. So after enough rumiging through the case I plugged it in, all worked very well indeed with the Compaq/Windows Vista setup.
Now 8 months down the line I have purchased another of these Compaq's and in my opinion these Compaq series ...

HawK33
Advantages: Cheap,Fast,Very Quiet , Dual Core(amd)
Disadvantages: Graphics card could have been better
...as you would expect with HP logos and the usual stuff.
Inside you get the PC,Keyboard and mouse(optical) and manual/setup instructions .
The computer turn on button is at the top which i found a little weird. Does it run well?
Yes it runs very well,
i was surprised at how well it ran.
One of my favorite things about it is its very quiet(literally you cant hear it run)
It doesn't take long too boot into the OS(Vista Home Premium)
What are the ...

Little Soldier
Review of HP Pavilion Slimline s3015.uk - Sempron 3500+ 2 GHz by
Shadow2k5
Advantages: Small and compact, ideal for day to day use
Disadvantages: Not the best for gamers
Just to sum it up before I blabber on, Awesome for the Price. The pavilion slimline s3015 may not be top of the range, it may not have the best graphics card and it may not have the best processor.
But at the price it's going for (+/- £325 on average) it's fantastic, great for the people who have had a dusty old machine clankering away all these years and is failing to meet their basic needs such as web browsing and media sharing. For the price ... ...the basics will be able to afford this without breaking the bank.
The graphics card and processor are also powerful enough to run most direct x 9 games on respectable settings, although for the hardened gamer this pc wouldnt be compatible for their needs.
With the space for an extra gig of ram to be fit into the tiny chasis this pc could beome a very versatile little machine. ...

Dell Dimension E520
Review of Dell Dimension E520 by
johanni333
Advantages: Customise your own system
Disadvantages: Better instructions for Vista
The thing I like about Dell is that you can customise your computer to your own requirements, for example adding a DVD Re writer media card, etc, etc. I've had little trouble with mine (touch wood!). The only problem I had was upgrading to Windows Vista. I was left with minimal instructions and actually found the system slower, until I got down to using it on a daily basis. At one point I considered reverting to XP, but thought I would stick with ... ...my own music. A Dell technician was supposed to call and explain how to speed the system up but never did, presumably whilst they were getting the Dell support center up and running, better than having to ring India and spent two hours talking to support when my Dell laptop caught a Greek virus and packed up! On the plus side, plenty of options for either home or business, good with a back up drive and with Windows Vista reminding you every 30 days ...

Not the best small PC but very featurefull
Review of ASUS Pundit P1-AH1 - no CPU by
xolof
Advantages: Supports two pc cards (graphics cards etc)
Disadvantages: No Vista support
This was the first computer I bought myself, and when it was released it was one of the best in its range for sff pc cases.
The size of this computer doesnt seem so small now due to compettitors like the mac mini and the dell hybrid mini. If your looking for a small computer, this isnt the one for you! It does however offer two pc card slots which many of the other small computers lack, if you are looking for something you can upgrade easily, this ... ...came out and many of the features have been left unsupported, for example the card reader can no longer be used, as far as I am aware there are still no drivers to make this work and would advise anybody buying this computer to stay away from vista at all costs. ...
