A Fantastic Server!
Review of HP ProLiant DL380 G5 Base - Dual-Core Xeon 5160 3 GHz by andycharger

Advantages: Reliable, powerful, robust
Disadvantages: Im yet to find one. Maybe the hidden costs in addtional items.

...this way and using the HP Raid utility during setup (which is included) you can literally configure your drives to behave in any way possible. Whether its the redundancy of Raid 5 you want or the mirroring ability of Raid 1, this does it all. PERFORMANCE Out of this world. It is so stable and so quick to start up. Its like lightning. We use our server to offer additional protection to our virtualised servers. This means we have 3 or 4 software ...
...under warranty with HP and after calling their help desk it is a recognised problem and a new power supply will be with us tomorrow. I have also ordered a hot spare redundant power supply to slot into the spare power supply slot. This has cost £105 plus the shipping. ... Read review

DC7700 - Cheap and Cheerful
Review of HP Compaq Business Desktop dc7700 - Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 GHz by Scarraban

Advantages: Plenty of USBs, runs basic applications.
Disadvantages: Lacks the power for today's games.

...files. When looking at HP customer service, compared to other manufacturers, they are quite reliable. Most drivers are easy to locate, and any other issues are usually quickly resolved by a simple phone call. In conclusion, this PC is perfect for a man who likes to get his work done, but if graphics and gaming are what you are looking for, pushing the boat out and buying a better PC would be advisable. ... Decent Server, Decent Price
Review of HP ProLiant DL140 G3 - Dual-Core Xeon 5110 1.6 GHz by bllward

Advantages: Small, lightweight, cheap
Disadvantages: Not very powerful

We use three of these little servers in our environment. They don't take up much space, and can be used for basic tasks such as hosting websites, domain controllers and as virtual servers in test environments. The hardware is capable, if not very exciting. The dual core Xeon is the high point of the machine, providing decent performance for low end tasks. 1GB of DDR2 is just enough to get by these days, but the roles mentioned above don't require ...
...SATA option with mirrored RAID arrays. For the price, the performance is unbeatable. One downside of going for these servers rather than for one it's big brothers is that you cannot use HPs incredibly useful SmartStart software to pre-setup the machines for deployment. As these servers use SATA, Windows XP, 2000 server and 2003 server have issues during install. It can be quite fiddley to get Windows onto the machine using the supplied disk, but ... Read review

iMac Core 2 Due 20" TFT
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 20" TFT by autonick

Advantages: Screen, Webcam, amazing processer speed
Disadvantages: With mine the Wifi can sometimes be an issue

...I bought it from the Apple store in London, where I must say the customer service is amazing and the staff had an answer to all my questions! Before this Imac I had an Ibook G4 which was the best thing since sliced bread, thats what made me want one of these. The IMac is all an all in one computer, all the bits are in the screen with only the keyboard and mouse separate. This makes it great for people with not so much space. This computer is very ...
...round, the whole unit is a sort of brushed aluminum colour and my favorite bit is the small brushed aluminum keyboard, which has nice sized buttons and a nice feel to it (ie not big and chunky keys) The IMac loads up in no time, unlike a Windows machine and within less than say 30 seconds you are ready to go. The screen is Massive, bright and very clear, and the graphics can easily handle online TV and gaming, I use mine to play World of Warcraft ... Read review

ibm does good again
Review of Lenovo ThinkCentre M55 8795 - Pentium D 925 3 GHz by atytyut2434

Advantages: ibms past record
Disadvantages: poor choice of graphics port

I've got one of these, in fact I'm writing this review on it right now. I bought it at my local auctions 2 years ago & I'm still getting great use out of it. It looks sleek with its all black case, keyboard & mouse. It's really easy to do upgrades on as it requires no tools to open the case or remove any parts. I upgraded the dvd-rom in mine to a rewriter & it took minutes to do & was as quick to get running & burning with. It might not have a ...
...games pretty well. I've been able to play both Quake 4 & Half Life 2 at fairly decent speeds. The port to fit a graphics card is a slightly annoying issue as it's intended for a standard PCI card & I was expecting to find an AGP port but I guess thats the price you pay for buying what was only ever intended to be a business machine. On-board sound is very good, the 1gb of RAM that comes as standard is more than enough for what I use it for. It ... Read review
